» Biography

Phalanx is the daughter of two esteemed dragons now lost to the ages, and has come a long way from the days of being a small, defenceless hatchling who was helpless against the ebb and flow of time. Once that little hatchling who barely left a footprint on the world, Phalanx is now regarded as one of the most trusted and powerful members of Shal'anir. Dressed in armour now forged with the sigil of her home and the pelt of her first wolf kill, she's an impressive dragoness to behold and her position as guard captain means she has a direct hand in the defence of Shal'anir. The armour plating she’s encased in with the sturdy blade pressed to her side leave her a threatening dragon to behold and, often, she does herself no favours with first impressions. She’s dismissive of all who haven’t proven her worth and lacks any regard for authority, openly challenging even the matriarch if what she believes clashes with what she’s told. Many would not put up with the unabashedly stubborn dragoness and it is often remarked that Phalanx is better a lone dragon than a member of the clan. Yet, none will deny that Phalanx is absolutely necessary to the protection of Shal'anir and that she's more than effective at her job. There's a reason Vesper won't accept any other to stand at the helm of their efforts and, in more ways than one, Phalanx is the very lifeline that flows through Shal'anir.

She goes by many names; the Grey Wolf, the Lone Wolf, Wolf Mother. All mean the same to her - nothing. Phalanx understands her worth and, title or no title, she will complete her duty to her last breath. Her allegiance lies with Shal'anir and her matriarch, but also to the memory of another now lost to ages past. A dragon of obsidian and ice resides within her heart, his thoughts playing against her own, his voice echoing in the silence of her conscious, and his influence guiding her every action. Phalanx's charge isn't her mate, it isn't her home, it isn't even her children. Instead, it's the memory of another who, in her youth, helped forge her into the dragoness she stands as today. Even his penultimate death was not enough to break the bond of Guardian to charge, and, although his death threatened to tear Phalanx apart in her grief, she has not yet given up. As long as she lives, so does her charge, and she swears by his memory above all else. It's his teachings that she imparts on her children, the first true children of Shal'anir, so that, even when her time comes, her charge will live on.

APPEARANCE
Large and imposing, Phalanx is heavily armoured with a grey wolf cape constantly hiding her face from view and a pair of ebony pauldrons that bear the family crest of Shal'anir on them. Everything is about her presents her as a warrior, with her skills honed over years of battle, and even her wolf pelt is scarred - a powerful beast worthy of Phalanx's signature piece.

TEMPERAMENT
Phalanx has little patience for outsiders, or even dragons that particularly irritate her, and is snappy and crude to those who incur her wrath. She has no reason to hold her tongue, although the queen does try her best to mediate Phalanx's anger, and isn't exactly the best dragon for more delicate clan-life, such as alliance forging.

CHILDREN
Phalanx is often referred to as the 'prime' of Shal'anir. Her children are some of the finest warriors the tree has to offer, with a select few rising up as her 'paragons' that specialise in one skill in particular. Phalanx herself has not risen to the pedestal of being a paragon like many of her children but even they know she stands above them in rank and will rally under her call.

- Can be seen patrolling, guarding the main entrance, or standing at Vesper's side. Wears the pelt of her first kill, hiding her expression. The only emotion she tends to outwardly show is anger; be it irritation or outright aggression. Isn't one to hold her tongue
