CLAN QUONDAM
On a small island that rests between the Windswept Plateau and the Southern Icefields, the fallen leader of a once-proud ice clan known as Angstrom made her nest with a nomadic wind dragon called Parsec. Adorned with fossils and treasured artifacts amid compasses and maps, two eggs were laid in a tangle of woven branches as well as bamboo, and the cold southern wind lay the slightest frozen edge upon their bed of feathers.
The dragons that hatched in this space that was, by design, dedicated in equal parts to both the Icewarden and Windsinger, were born with heterochromia. Equal parts Ice and Wind flight by birth.
Of the two hatchlings, one—Auric—was born a Skydancer, as her father, while the other—Orexin—was born a ridgeback, as her mother.
The small family of four enjoyed a period of peace and prosperity in their home between homes, but in time, Parsec’s wanderlust called him to his nature as a wind dragon, and though his love for his family was unquestionable, it came time for him to seek new horizons, and he did so with the love and the blessing of his mate.
With his daughters he left his two dearest treasures; a timepiece from the Sunbeam Ruins for Auric, and a piece of tanzanite from the Ashfall Waste for Orexin.
The two young dragons grew up largely with only their mother’s guidance, which was fine, as Angstrom was more than capable of defending the whole of their island home on her own, let alone their small family. She was strong, capable and determined, just as her daughters grew to be.
As they grew, Orexin came to resent their father, while Auric came merely to wonder about him. Although Angstrom made a point of reminding her children that Parsec left with her blessing, Orexin would not forgive him.
In her eyes, Parsec had abandoned of them, and she came to think wind dragons as a whole careless and irresponsible, and could not fathom why a dragon so powerful and intelligent as her mother would mate with such a dragon.
Although Orexin was by all accounts as much of a wind dragon as she was an ice dragon, she rejected that part of herself completely, and identified entirely as an ice dragon, as her mother.
Eventually, as they grew older, dreams of setting out to seek their fortune came to grow in their minds and hearts. Orexin knew she wanted to build her empire in the South, as Angstrom once had—it was merely a question of when she would leave her home on the island. She had come to assume over time that she and Auric would lay down territories in the Southern Icefields and form a respectable alliance in which both would be free to build their own clans independently from one-another, while still benefiting from their family ties.
However, one day, Auric announced to her mother and sister that she was going to seek her fortune in the Windswept Plateau.
While Orexin was shocked and outraged by the idea, Angstrom gave the young Skydancer her blessing, along with her share of inheritance. When Orexin tried to protest, Angstrom silenced her, reminding her that Auric was free to choose her own path. Orexin begrudgingly obeyed her mother, but approached Auric later that night in fumes, demanding an explanation.
Auric admitted to her sister that she wanted to try to find their father, a statement that left Orexin incredulous, claiming that he had run out on them, that his roaming heart meant more to him than they did. Auric protested this, reminding Orexin that he left with their mother’s blessing, and further reminded her of the gifts he left with them.
Orexin attempted to cast this fact aside (as she had tried to do to his gift, though she kept it upon request of Angstrom), but Auric affirmed that one does not leave prized treasures with those he does care about.
She reminded Orexin that they are both in part wind dragons, which Orexin rebuffed, claiming that her eyes do not speak for her heart.
Unable to reach a calm, Orexin parted bitterly, and the following dawn, just like that, her sister was gone.
Orexin stayed on the island a small while longer, but eventually, with the parting of her sister, became restless and agitated just staying there (Angstrom teased it was the wind dragon in her, which Orexin did not appreciate), and it soon became clear that it was time for her to set out for the Southern Icefields.

Hi! I just want to let you know that my internet is being a butt right now. I don't want to risk replying to your message and just have it not get delivered at all. I'll reply when I'm able. Thank you.
