So uh... my hometown was just hit by a tornado... yeah. Luckily, from the damage I've seen so far, it was probably an EF1-EF2 since it was mostly fallen/ripped out trees and little to no house damage. But this big tree behind my parent's old place, fell over into the backyard. This tree was BIG. So that will be weird not see that there anymore, providing lots of shade.

Wow it's been a while since I've been on here hehe. I just keep forgetting FR exists now, but I love it still! I need to find a way to put it back in my non-existent daily routine lol.

Also! Yeah the recording didn't go as well as I hoped (they were sight reading it basically) but it was still really cool to hear it in action and actually be able to sort out physical issues. So that at least helped. Still awaiting to get the recording back though... I think it might be my email hmmm.....

If you think that percussion, specifically mallets, is cheaper than other instruments like woodwinds and brass, you're wrong. Over time, we spend just as much on our mallet sets and sticks as some wind instruments. The only reason I'm saying this is because I found out that the triangle beater set I kinda want, costs around $80... yeah, I don't think I need them that badly right now.
Oh and apparently, that's CHEAP for a triangle beater set.

So I've recently started attempting to keep an orchid alive again. So far so good, although I think I might be under watering it for once. In the past I found out I always killed them by over watering, cause that's what I'm used to when plants wilt, is that they need water. Orchids are the opposite. they wilt with too much water. Well so do other plants but in a different way vs under watered Currently everything is droopy on my orchid, but the roots haven't turned brown, they are grey-white and somewhat shriveled which means the orchid doesn't have enough water. So I might have this whole orchid thing figured out now. ;) wow these post are getting longer at times...

Ok I'm apparently not allowed to get a full nights sleep or something. For the last few weeks I have gone to bed fairly late, even though I really did want to go to bed earlier. Last night I finally managed to do that so I would wake up at 9 for once, and instead I was woken up at 6:30 being asked questions I don't even know the answers to. Then right when I was finally about to fall asleep again, (btw at 6:30 in the morning the sun shines right through my window and heats it up about a million degrees, yes I do have blinds and they were closed) I was disturbed again being told that my parents are leaving for their trip, and so after that, I finally fell asleep to wake up at 11 which is 2 hours after I wanted to wake up and 2 hours before I go to work. PLAN = FAILED. No matter how I plan, something always foils it including the back up. Now I need to some breakfast...

Ok, next time a non-percussionist tells me my instrument is easy cause all we do is hit things, I am giving them a long cold death glare. "So you think hitting two timpani at the same time is easy? Well you need to make sure you are articulating it correctly, using correct technique for that articulation, and hitting it in just slightly different spots on the head as to not dampen the sound, and that you aren't hitting in the center or the edge of the head, all while playing fff and tuning the other drums while playing that!" Sure it may sound easy, but it's more difficult than you'd think. Especially if you haven't played timpani for 9 years unlike all the wind players... *glare begins* It's not like I have my own set of timpani to practice on.
Sorry I'm just really annoyed and frustrated right now. Today was just not my day apparently, and I'm pretty sure everyone in my band now thinks I'm some idiot or something who can't do anything for himself. Thanks life! *says with sarcastic peppy tone* ugh...

A weird, sad and very true fact I discovered while writing my paper: "...text messaging has a greater negative impact on safely operating a motor vehicle than being drunk." Basically meaning that driving drunk is safer than texting and driving (not that driving drunk is ever safe). I mean think about it.
For slipping up and falling behind a lot in a few classes, I'm surprisingly calm... So my Jazz band doesn't have a ballad, and I've been searching for some and came across A Child Is Born which my high school Jazz played, and all I remember (assuming this was the song this happened) was my friend and were looking through the parts and I found Harmon mutes. She said, "Really?" and I said "yeah right-" then I heard her gasp and scream, "FLUGELHORN!!!" Next thing I know she was no longer next to me, but in the instrument closet digging for Duchess (she named the flugelhorn).

So I didn't mention the day of, but last Monday my dog finally had to be put down. I never did get a chance to see him again since I went off for college, or be there with him when it happened. It still hasn't fully hit me yet even though I've been home since. I honestly don't know what I'm going to do without him. He is always the one I go to and hug when I'm down. All I can say is that Max was the perfect dog, and will forever be my favorite sweet, little puppy.

So... my mom just told me today that either tomorrow or sometime this week, they might have to put my dog down... I knew it was gonna happen in the future, but I didn't think this soon or that I wouldn't be able to be with him when it happened. So I am in a really bad shock right now. One of my neighbor's dogs who sadly passed this morning. For a long period of time she was in a horrible living situation, and for the last few months of her life finally saw the sunlight again and was free as a dog along with her brother and a new family that loved her as their own. So the other night I found a show called Storm Wranglers, and the two guys on this show were Kelley Williamson and Randy Yarnall both who worked for the Weather Channel. From that one episode I watched I could tell they were some of the best guys you could know and that they had a real passion for storm chasing, and couldn't wait until they made new episodes for this year. Today however I would like to give my condolences for their families and the Weather Channel as they passed away today doing what they loved. Rest in Peace, Kelley and Randy.

So I have a black cat, and every night right before or right as we are going to bed he likes to play this game of "catch me if you can". So he'll run all over creation and will hide in places we can't get to him. Well like all or most cats, he loves boxes, and he ran, saw a box in the family room, and jumped in. So what did I do? First Snow (Anthem for the Winter Solstice) I played it in my college's Festival of Winds and I had the second bell part (YES TWO BELL PARTS!!) The other day my friend Keet and I were in Jazz and we were handed a new piece of music. I think we were sorta talking about something when we got the music but we scanned the music when she said "harmon mute"
and I was like "where do you see th-" when she burst out in a high, excited squeal saying, " FLUGELHORN!!!" and the next thing I knew she was gone. It was one of those "had to be there" moments really, but it was hilarious!

So I rarely watch Disney Channel anymore but I do still love some of their shows like Austin and Ally, Girl Meets World, and Dog With a Blog. Well I was working on some music stuff and when it wasn't playing I heard dialogue from Dog With a Blog and stopped to watch; seeing a situation where I knew Stan was going to talk in front of Ellen and Bennett to save them from a falling piano. I watched the entire episode and heard the last words, "So long" and I knew that had to mean it was over. The series. I looked it up and sure enough... I'm really sad now and I haven't even seen every episode of that show but I'm sad that it's gone :( And the fact that that episode aired on 9/25 makes it worse.

Well, I have officially been on this site for one year. Man has my lair changed a lot. I think every time I have reached a new year I will post a picture of something I found that same day as I did with the pineapple clock. So... JELLYFISH PLANT!!!

YAY!!! So my marching band went to its first field show competition and we made finals! :D So we had to perform again for that and once we were done with the second performance we had to go to our home football game to do it again at half time. 3 performances in one day really kills ya, especially if you had to wake up at 5:00 a.m. and don't get home until 11:00 p.m. And now I have to wake up at 6:00 to leave for the airport. Ugh...
