The Clan had not even been in existence for a year, but the two Imperials knew it could not maintain itself in its current state for long. The armored Imperial pair had noticed the signs, though it appeared none of the others had. The Clan had grown quickly, much faster than what could ever be maintained. Then, as dragons bred, their hatchlings rarely stayed as long as they should have, and when they did leave, there were no signs of them. Not long ago, many of the older dragons from The Clan flew off in the night, their voices muffled. Even more recently, Aerona and Alun, the founding pair, decided to split up as mates, destroying another mateship in the process. They had even forced other dragons to abandon their mates for other, newer dragons.

Daeris and Emyr knew the mirror and fae could not hold the bunch together for long. They began to plot with each other during the night, and finally, came to a decision on what to do. They would overpower the smaller, current leaders. They would take over The Clan. They would put some dragons in exile, but not all. Only those who were sympathizers of Aerona and Alun. Those two, though, would remain, to see how much they had failed. They would be treated as the lowest ranking dragons in The Clan.

In the weeks before the rebellion, Daeris and Emyr trained some of the other dragons in the clan. They would need all the help they could get when it came to the inevitable fight. They knew, though, that they could only give each dragon so much time, and that it would not be enough for many of them to survive the fight.

(If you want to try and set the mood: Rise by Skillet)

Soon, the night came that the two Imperials had been planning. By their side were the Nocturne Seren and the Pearlcatcher Neptune. Daeris and Emyr had chosen them as their second in command. They watched over their sleeping clan, finalizing their plans. Finally, as the sun began to subtly lighten the shadows, the four worked their way through the dragons, rousing their troops. At the peak of the day, the battle began. A hearty battle cry rang out, and chaos broke. Alun and Aerona were totally blindsided, and their small size hardly helped them against the imperial pair. The two knew they couldn't win in a fight, so they fled, waiting for a change to try and regain control.

In the dray, dragons began to die, the first being the gentle Skydancer, Pryderi. Soon after, the cries of Rhiannon could be heard as she stood over her mate's body. Glaw had passed on, his soul would serve the Shadowbinder in the next life. As the dragons who remained loyal to Alun and Aerona surrounded the mirror, they gave her the option to leave now and maintain her honor. Giving her fallen mate a despairing glance, she turned tail and bounded away from the battle. Soon after, Queenie noticed her mother had disappeared. Fearing the worst, she ran off in search of her mother, though she knew it was unlikely the mirror would be found.

The battle went on throughout the remainder of the day, though no new deaths were reported. Emyr had noticed, however, that a few dragons had not been seen at all before the battle. He assumed they feared for their lives and fled. He also noticed a few remaining in the den, cowering in the darkness. He would have to have a word with them. As shadows thickened with the sunset, the rebels fled their home to hide out in the darkness, waiting to strike again.

In the early morning, Tyros, a young mirror was the first awake. He was confused and scared for a while, wondering why he wasn't in the den, when he remembered the rebellion had begun. He looked for his sister and noticed she was missing. Fear gripped his heart and, before anyone else woke up, he bounded out of the temporary camp to search for his sister. He knew he would never be allowed back after abandoning the cause, but his family came first.

Soon after, the rebel dragons awoke and continued the fight. As the days went on, groups of dragons passed through, and after hearing what was going on, some agreed to help the rebels, while a few went against them. Sadly, none made it more than a few hours in the battle, as they did not have the advantage of knowing those they were fighting. Finally, after a hard and difficult battle, Aerona and Alun surrendered to the Imperials. Many of the dragons who had supported the two original leaders swore their alliance to their new leaders, though a few were banished for refusing. Many believed Daeris and Emyr would provide the Clan with a better rule, but only time would tell if this was true.

As it turned out, the perfect world the Clan fell into after the rebellion would not last for long. Soon, the two Imperials began to spend countless hours, sometimes even days, secluded from the others within their den. Often, they would even fly off for periods of time with no warning and no word on when they would return. The dragons could not stand this, and soon, began to part ways. They would not fight again. No, they had killed and chased off too many friends before, they would not do so again. Only a few dragons would remain together, though they decided they could not stay in this home. It haunted their memories too much. Alun darted his way towards the center of Arcane territory, thanking the deity for providing the Clan shelter in their troubled time, but they could not stay. It was not home to the few who remained. Their purple eyes did not belong in the land of pink. True, the views of the night sky were breathtaking, but they missed the soft glow of mushrooms in the dark, the pranks their friends from other Clans would play on them. It was their true deity they missed most - Shadowbinder, or Shadowmom as she was affectionately known by the two founders. Soon, when they were sure everyone who wished to leave had done so, and none wished to return, they would pack up and return to where they called home.
