Clan Lore

~The Beginning

The clan began wholly by accident not long after Siavira first laid claim to a little cave in the Crystalpine Reaches to stow away all the tomes she had collected. When a long-familiar face first appeared at the mouth of her cave, Siavira was altogether unimpressed with her visitor. However despite her introversion and want of solitude an agreement was struck - as long as no dragon bothered her and all dragons paid the proper respect to her tomes and collection of knowledge, any who wished could seek out refuge within her caves.

Of course, it never hurts to bribe the clan maker with knowledge either.

~As We Grew...

The clan was odd, but continued to grow larger. As more and more dragons arrived for refuge and were born within the caves, the clan soon found they had outgrown the space Siavira had first carved out for her books. Many of the dragons were worried about the future of the clan. However, odd though she may be, Siavira knew she could not forsake all those who had sought her lair and ~~bribed her with books~~ brought her knowledge. So it was that the clan carefully moved their tomes and settled in the Starwood Strand. There the clan found peace and beauty beyond their imaginations. There was always something to be learned or inspiration to be found within the boughs of the trees. But little did they imagine the dangers to come...

~The Escape

Many of the clan was perhaps of... dubious morals. However, it was considered of little consequence within the Sanctuary that Siavira had created for them. As long as they held knowledge in high regards, it mattered not whether it was the knowledge or the power the knowledge brought which the individual dragon thirsted after. Unfortunately, it was this which was nearly the clan's downfall. One night, it all went to pieces. The clan gathered all the tomes they could carry and fled their home. Their pursuers gave chase and it was with great desperation that the clan sought the one place they'd be most likely to survive - within the Shadows. So it was that distraught, hurt, tired, and homeless the clan landed in a copse of trees that was far from the home they'd quickly come to love. Here, they managed to cobble together the tomes they'd saved and go to ground. Within the depths of WispWillow Grove, they hide and tend their wounds.

~Within the Grove

The grove is both mockingly similar to their previous home, and disturbingly different. However, the shadows are safe for the clan in a way their last home wasn't. It'll take time perhaps, but surrounded by their tomes of knowledge this may very well become a home...

~Younglings

With a clan so wholly uninvolved with each other it's hardly surprising that the young tend to raise themselves. Nor is it surprising that often they are quick to wander off. Siavira mostly leaves the dragons within her lair to their own devices, but sometimes a few of her peculiarities make themselves known and the dragons of her clan try their best to satisfy her desire out of respect to the odd clan mother.

Among those peculiarities is that once a dragon is born it is wholly unto a will of its own and whether that will is to go in search of adventure or whether it is to go forth and serve its chosen deity, the choice to leave the clan's boundaries is that of each individual dragon.

~Naming

Another of the peculiarities found within the clan is that no dragon is named by any other than itself. Of course, by no means is any dragon required to ever choose a name and in fact many of the dragons in the clan never do. A dragon's name is a personal choice and the reasoning of the name chosen may or may not be shared dependent solely on whether or not the dragon wishes to tell.
