Lore



The Nebula Division is a clan of scientists, of mages. A clan of thinkers, a clan of dreamers. The history of the Nebula Division is chaos-filled, and especially the Second Age is violent. However, the Nebula Division has established themselves as a militaristic powerhouse and a rising economic one. The Nebula Division balances magical growth with technological innovation. The more magical adepts make up the Caster Squadron, the physical attackers make up the Paladin Squadron, and those why rely on the Division’s powerful siege weapons and ranged attackers make up the Corsair Squadron.
Kai and Iruera, soulmates, formed the Guild of the Moon to be their new home. What they didn’t expect was an expanding clan seeking more and more. First came Shada, and Illusion. The original few were contempt. A little blue hatchling named Lapis arrived, claiming she was running from a group of slave traders, who were planning an attack. Iruera believed the little hatchling and saw to the defenses. After the attack was repulsed with no losses, Lapis was given the Guild’s highest honor, the Medal of the Servant of The Moon. The little hatchling made her home in the Guild of the Moon, becoming a promising politician and friend. Lapis put forth programs of expansion, accepting plenty of new members. After a while, Kai and Iruera stepped down and elected
Lapis and Mist as leaders. The end of the First Age was upon them. After Lapis was elected to power, her fake personality of politeness and kindness fell off. She immediately arranged decrees keeping her in power, and arrested some of the oldest members for “threatening the Guild.” Those that stood up to Lapis randomly “disappeared.” A total of 40 members met this sudden end, and the others merely kept their head down. She renamed the Guild to the Nebula Division, brought it from isolationism, and invited stronger, more violent dragons into the clan. She started programs to create the most effective and modern army Sornieth would ever see. From there point on, she made it her goal to form a global clan, one under one ruler, her. She made multiple conquests, powered by the now functioning Nebulaen war industry. She made new magical ranged weapons, gunpowder weapons, large artillery and siege equipment, and prototypes of space fleets vast enough and powerful enough to level entire cities at a time. However, her dream was cut short. A blade was found through the Skydancer’s neck, ending the Second Age and causing a huge succession crisis. After the assassination of the dictator Lapis, the Nebula Division have created a democracy, where one group could get elected to power. From that democracy, three factions had been formed. The Enlightened sought a magical-oriented clan to win the blessing of the Arcanist, led by Soraca. The Formers wished to finish Lapis’s goal of creating the largest space navy Sornieth has ever seen, led by former chief engineer Shada. The Aurora wished for a focus balanced between magic and tech,led by Crystal and Morpho. The democracy was unstable, power hinging on certain “neutral” individuals and how they voted. Eventually, the three factions agreed on a compromise, ending the democracy and the Third Age.
Fourth Age
The compromise brought forth to end the unstable democracy was approved unanimously by the Nebula Division. The Aurora would take control, creating a monarchy-like system where one individual would run the clan for their life. The Formers only signed when the agreement added that the Nebula Division would create a space fleet dedicated to exploring new worlds, trading, gaining resources, and fighting the Shade. The Enlightened only signed when it was promised their magic could continue, and certain dragons could stay behind on their home in the Starfall Isles. With the compromise completed, Ohme could get to work finishing his plans. With the help of the entire clan and many friends, the mothership Arcane Exploration Ship 001, better known as the A.E.S. Eternal, was completed. The ship was big enough for a crew of hundreds, with places to grow crops, build equipment, perform military exercises, and live permanently in comfort. Ohme had met with the Arcanist himself, arranging for the transfer of hundreds of adepts to staff the mothership and a way to transmit discoveries back to the Arcanist. The clan was so impressed, even stubborn anti-tech Soraca was in awe. So the Eternal and its crew set off with great fanfare, leaving Kai and Iruera alone on Sornieth in their retirement.
