In the beginning, there was nothing but the ruins. Only a lone guardian stood by, standing watch over the remains of something mystical and alive. The guardian's friends and family urged her to move on from the dead palace and find new life. Yet the guardian stubbornly stood watch and did not move from her station. After a long, long trial of cajoling and urging and outright begging the guardian to move, her family and friends gave up and moved on.

She continued to watch over the ruins.

And then came along another - a curious fae who stumbled upon the ruins after getting lost. The guardian did not move from her station, but the burning curiosity in her heart spurred the guardian to ask the fae how he ended up in her domain.

The fae, in return, told his story of exploring the skies with his traveling colony. But he somehow ended up getting separated from his colony after a disastrous storm and took cover in the ruins. At the end of his tale, the guardian offered the fae her lair for shelter. He gave her his thanks and accepted her offer.

Unbeknownst to the both of them, they'd both attracted the attentions of young, hopeful dragons seeking asylum from an unkind world. The combination of the guardian's unprejudiced disposition and the fae's loving nature fostered a sense of security, a strange kind of warmth that can only be felt within a chosen family. The guardian was understandably bewildered when the young ones began to talk about forming a clan. But, after spending time with each dragon and listening to their stories, the guardian was not surprised when she began to watch over her fellow dragons more than dead history.

And slowly, the clan grew along with the guardian's heart.

When a dragon in need of help wanders into the underground ruins of the Sundial Terrace, they will be greeted by a stiff guardian with warm rose scales and warmer golden eyes.

"Welcome. My name is Iliad. What is your story, little one?"
