We are currently seeking applicants for the following roles:
Art & Design
Illustration Generalist - Contract / Freelance / Remote
We are currently seeking a flexible illustration generalist proficient in Adobe Photoshop to work on content for future Flight Rising updates. This position will be for freelance/contract remote work projects creating creatures, item icons, visual patterns on existing templates (genes for dragons), and apparel to fit on existing templates. Being able to tackle environments would be a bonus, but is not required. Artist should be capable of visually matching the existing Flight Rising style guide, have a knowledge of how to ink and cel shade.

Engineering & Operations
Reliability Engineer - Contract / Remote
We're on a search to find a talented Reliability Engineer to join our creative and dedicated team. This individual would be at the forefront of ensuring seamless gameplay experiences for the thriving community of Flight Rising. The ideal candidate would be well-versed in full stack development (including PHP, Laravel, Node, Javascript, etc.), and feel at home with everything from rapid incident response to regular version updates for services across our production and development environments. They would be the beating heart of our operations, excelling at monitoring live site vitals and safeguarding the critical services that bring our world to life. Primary Responsibilities
- Service disruption incident response (critical and non-critical)
- Live site monitoring and regular reporting of site operation vitals and statistics
- Maintaining, performing, and testing version updates for ongoing critical services including, but not limited to:
- Linux packages, including kernel updates
- Linux distribution versions, in case of end of life
- PHP
- Laravel
- Node & NPM packages
- Elasticsearch
- Other API integrations (e.g. Paypal, Braintree)
- Using, maintaining and improving scripts used to configure and manage production and testing environments
- Ansible and Python experience a plus
- Ensuring stability of developer virtual machine environments across the engineering team:
- Ensuring VMs are up-to-date
- Addressing VM issues (such as with VirtualBox/Vagrant on Mac and Windows)
- Maintaining backup systems and checking regularly that they operate correctly
Tertiary Responsibilities
- Game features / tools quality engineering:
- Pull request reviews
- Detailed and thorough feature testing
- Risk assessment
- Regression testing
- Full stack development support, if necessary (PHP, Javascript, Laravel, MySQL)
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen over 21 years of age
- Must have a working computer desktop or laptop and a reliable internet connection
- Strong understanding of project management
- Experience in creating and maintaining a flexible schedule, including the ability to be on-call depending on the situation
- Experience with flexible / moving project schedules
- Exceptional verbal and and written communication skills
- Able to work well with others in a diverse and fast-moving environment
- Strong ownership and responsibility for workload
- Self-motivation and initiative
Pluses
- Strong web development background and familiarity with common programming languages and frameworks
- Game industry experience web or game-based systems administration, or bachelor's degree with an emphasis on similar duties
- Game engine familiarity (Godot, Unity, Unreal, etc.)
