ABOUT
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
When the Galehart clan's home, the Singing Tower, finally succumbed to age and over-development, it began to crumble and threaten collapse. This led the clan to a hasty search for a new lair before their old one became uninhabitable. At some point in this chaos, a single lone wind egg was abandoned on the clan's doorstep, its parents nowhere to be found. The clan had already packed up the essentials and was readying itself for the long trek to Dragonhome, but they couldn't in good conscience leave the lost egg behind to hatch all alone in the Zephyr Steppes. So it was carried with the clan, claw to claw, wing to wing, with each dragon taking turns incubating it and keeping it warm and protected. It hatched while the clan was in flight, and a young guardian emerged, one with tiny, stunted wings.
The hatchling turned her face into the brisk winds and opened her pale green eyes for the first time to see clouds rolling away below her, the world a patchwork quilt of different clans and the wild spaces between them. She loved being in the air, and spent her first few days tottering around on the backs of her clanmates, rejoicing in the giddiness of flight. When they landed in their new home, it was just in time, for guardians grow fast, and already, Sinai was becoming heavy enough that only her fellow guardians and imperials could carry her. Amidst the bustle of the clan getting settled, Sinai continued to grow, but her wings remained frail and twisted, unable to carry her above the clouds.
Sinai loved Dragonhome, and loved playing among the boulders and steep ravines near her clan's lair. She even loved being a guardian- her strong limbs and considerable size meant few things would bother her while she was out exploring, and she could leap and climb to the highest peaks to feel the wind on her face and see the valleys and hills unfold below. But still, she would stare longingly at the clouds, wishing to soar among them. She hung wind chimes from her stunted wings and built kites and wind socks which she would fly until they were barely visible dots high in the air.
When Sinai found her charge, it was in the form of a dilapidated temple on the outskirts of her clan's territory. Many travelers sought shelter there, as it was the last outpost before entering that part of the mountains, but it had fallen into disrepair over the centuries. The temple was situated on an island in the middle of a reservoir, accessible by a wide stone bridge and surrounded by rolling prairie. Sinai felt perfectly at home in the grasslands, with the wind whispering through tall grass, and the clouds reflected perfectly in the reservoir's surface. Bit by bit, she began clearing debris from the temple and piecing together its scattered masonry. It wasn't long before it came to resemble a softer, more aged version of its former glory: sunlight streaming between the pillars, shadows softened by the carvings on the walls and floors. Everyone who passed through found Sinai to be an excellent host. She may not be able to fly, and having found her charge, is unwilling to leave the temple grounds, but she delights in stories of others' travels, and will gladly offer directions and advice she acquires. If you pass by the temple, rest assured you will leave with a full stock of provisions and an encouraged spirit.
