Erebus began as any other - hatching from an egg. Though he hatched alone amongst a bundle of rotted & mangled eggs whom he assumes were once his siblings before they fell to the clutches of sickness. Most of his childhood and adolescence was that of a scavenger - he had no home and no family to support him. He roamed the lands, hunted his own food, and hunkered down for the cold nights where he could.

It wasn't until he was just barely a few years into his adulthood that he was afflicted with his "curse" - his vampirism. He had been quite the mischievous mortal and as such had stumbled upon a coven of vampires, they attacked him. Drained him of almost all his blood - leaving him near-death. But as he laid there long after they had gone and he struggled to breath and not fall into the dark depths he knew to be death - a "savior" approached his body. Offered him immortal life. He, in a desperate plea to live, took the offer and his savior fed him their own blood.

He was taught the ways of the vampire - how to feed and how to hunt. He actually found he thrived as the dark creature he was now. Often even finding himself reveling in the new-found strength & speed he possessed. Over time he grew to be a powerful vampire - old and smart. He never once turned another though, he refused to create his own "coven", he has joined and destroyed multiple other covens however.

Due to his age and dark appearance Erebus was declared a primordial deity born from the void of Chaos by mortals. He is described as the very personification of darkness. He finds this title befitting his way of life - and also very amusing as some have attempted to worship him both far and near and he often nonchalantly informs them of his true nature being that of a Vampire and not a God.

Abaddon, the Angel of Death devoted to the Vampire Erebus.

Erebus has had a broad range of lovers over his many years of existence, most of them were fleetingly mortal while some were long-lasting with other beings of immortal lifetimes. Erebus was saying his goodbyes to his most recent lover who had been a mortal when he first encountered Abaddon.

Abaddon's first appearance was that of the angel that would bring Erebus' [then] passing lover to whichever afterlife awaited them. Erebus held no ill-will towards the angel and upon catching a glimpse of him Erebus was enraptured. He had seen angels before yes - but never one of such grace and Erebus was stricken with desire for Abaddon.

Abaddon vanished soon after their first encounter but Erebus had already made a vow to himself. He would find this handsome Angel of Death and he would make him his. So that is what Erebus did for a great many years - he pursued the angel in the hopes of ensnaring him with his charms - or otherwise just capturing him to have his wicked way with him. It took a great deal of time and cunning but Erebus was able to capture Abaddon's interest, they formed a slow but steady bond and with that bond came the inevitable corruption of Abaddon's once pure angelic soul.

Erebus is an old creature - with that age came much knowledge and instinct. He knows a lot about the history of the world, and is "street-savvy", meaning he knows how to survive almost any situation. As a vampire he has a constant lust for blood - though he has learned to control it over the years it can still, on occasion, cause outbursts of violence when/if he gets hungry enough. [Note when extremely hungry his eyes are pitch black - when full they're golden.] Normally when full Erebus can be very charming, alluring most would say, he has a way with words that usually gets him anywhere he'd like to be.
