Biography

Gull

Hatched with eyes wide to the sight of limitless blue, and never quite learned to look down.

KyPjosp.png Not the most agile flier (that's Ichabod), or the most tenacious (that's Lark), but the most experienced, and the best at teaching young dragons and non-windborn how to safely navigate the Plateau's ever-changing air currents. Patient with nervous pupils, steady with fears, and thorough with inattention, but not given to praise, so dragons that earn it strut for days.

The adults grumble that he doesn't have the grace to be windborn himself so they can't console themselves that's why they're not as good as he is. The one time someone grumbled that in his hearing, Gull's eyebrows disappeared into the top of his mane as he asked if they really thought the Windswept Plateau holds the only air currents difficult to navigate.
His flight assistant is a slightly scary bird-thing that helps him unfairly have eyes literally everywhere at once.


Favorite activity is cloudwatching. As a hatchie he imagined the towering cloudscapes and fluffy pinkstreaked seas were real places he could reach one day. As an adult he learned the sky is just as full as he believed, of thermals and downdrafts and eddies, crosscurrents and tradewinds and jetstreams, and they can take him anywhere.
Doesn't talk much, so considered hard to get to know although not unfriendly by anyone who makes the effort. (Except for those other dragons comfortable with silence who consider him perfectly normal.) Will read anything that comes into his hands but doesn't keep anything except poems since Puri likes listening to those no matter how many times he's heard them before. ablackbengalcat.png
Used to be a mercenary until he met Suriyamanpur, but won't talk abut it to anyone who wants to hear about glorious battles or desperate last stands, only to other dragons who have been in combat or, weirdly enough, drakes with mundane repetitive parts-of-this-are-mucky jobs. (And Principia won't pass on any battle tales either.)

Puri calls him Gully. No one else quite dares, even the ones who usually like to tease dragons, because Gull's tusks are awfully big and he absolutely knows how to use them.
nOxEc6O.png Smaller dragons are surprised to learn that when Gull and Puri nap together Puri is the one curled up in the middle with Gull stretched around his back. Bigger dragons merely nod knowingly. (It's a very nice feeling to be cuddled, regardless of the cuddler's size.)
Favorite I love you phrase to Puri is "You smell like home." It never fails to make him melt. 		DpPVVLv.png

Pillow-Arc-Sky.png 		Remy didn't give Gull a Pillow of Friendship for some time after he gifted Puri one, because it turns out he didn't quite register them as separate individuals. (Instead of... a two-headed two-bodied unit?)

Remy corrected the lack immediately when he learned and apologized for the mistake. Gull put the pillow beside Puri's. (Puri appreciates how nicely the two complement each other.)
