Razzle
Herbalist

▬▬ BIOGRAPHY ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

It was in a blossoming clan that Razzle was born into. The clan was just starting to blossom from the seeds of an idea into something real. He and his sister were one of the first hatchlings of their clan.

When Razzle was born, he was immediately enlisted into the guard, as his parents were bred for their ferocious nature. He, however, was not a fan of wars and fighting. He preferred the philosophy "whatever will be, will be." Razzle was a terrible fighter, despite the clan's efforts to hone his skills. His sister, however, relished in beating her opponents with her superior size. She was the ultimate weapon, and Razzle loved her.

It was after they were both grown that she grew sick. She would spend hours in bed, coughing and sweating. Razzle had no idea how to help her, and watched in desperation as his perfect, healthy, younger sister succumbed to the sickness and claimed her life. It was then that he made a vow to never kill another dragon, lest someone have to bear the grief of losing a sibling, just as he did.

He left the clan, unable to bear seeing his parents anymore, as they reminded him of his sister too much. It was not a problem that he left, because they were already watching over their next nest. He was forgotten, and unneeded.

He traveled to the Driftwood Drag, and lived there for quite a long time, becoming one with the fog and the delta. He spoke naught for years, living off of herbs and learning how to use them for his advantage. He became part of the forest, part of the bird calls, part of the ungodly stench that wafted around him day and night. He practically became mute, and lost all sense of smell. He began identifying herbs by taste, and feel.

He was only called out of the marsh by a dragon desperate to save her only remaining son. She had heard of the mysterious Imperial that was wise in the way of herbs that lurked within the swamp in the Shadow territories. She sent message through her familiar, a Nature Sprite. He understand the high-pitched squeal of the Nature entourage. He knew that if he were to save her remaining son, he would have to act fast. He followed the sprite to the Plague lands, where a mother was watching over her son, a huge Imperial, sweating and turning. It was the same disease that had claimed his sister. But this time, Razzle was determined to keep life in this dragon's body.

He stayed by his bedside, day and night, using a cold washcloth to keep down his temperature while using his herbs to combat the disease. His mother was also constantly there, and he learned her story. She told him that he was a castaway from the Shadow territories. She revealed how her partner had used her, and how this was her only son that she had left. The others had abandoned her, or died from the same disease trying to take her son's life now. With each passing moment in her presence, Razzle was falling more in love. For the first time in years, he used his voice to fill her in on what was happening to her son, and what he knew of the sickness that ailed her son. The dragon had a fitting name: Dazzle . She dazzled him to him to his core.

Gradually, her son recovered. This was the first of his many successful treatments. Dazzle and Razzle became mates in the very clan that they met. Her son, in the end, left her too, but now she had Razzle to keep her company.

Though they both spends most of their lives in the swamp, they still visits the clan often, to see if anyone is in need of their herbal remedies. Razzle has moved on from the muddy, smelly area that had once been his home. He now lives in a cave in the swamp with Dazzle that is fragrant from his herbs and pungent from Dazzle's potions.

His voice is not what it used to be. There is always a strain in speaking for home, and it pains him greatly to raise his voice. The volume he speaks at is always a hoarse whisper, and even though Dazzle has tried to heal his damaged throat, nothing works. He now speaks forever in a ragged tone.

Razzle is a kindly dragon, with a sympathetic eye to those struggling in life, sometimes offering his assistance as both an herbalist and a counselor to help the dragon through the tough times. He has a heart full of love and understanding, and is not afraid to give that to others.

He has a way with the forest that most dragons lack. He can hear if it is in pain, or if there is an intruder. The trees speak to him in ways that no one else seems to hear. Most blow off the ancient Imperial as a silly fool who has no idea what he is speaking about, but there has been numerous occasions when he has saved his clan from a surprise attack due to intel garnered from the trees.

Razzle serves as the herbalist for his clan. He offers his services for only a bit of gratitude.
What he often does is sit in the marsh, barely moving except to let loose a few tears and screams. His grief of losing his sister stays with him to this day, and he has never fully healed. If he has, it was in the wrong way.

He never tells anyone that his job is a constant reminder of how he couldn't help the one dragon he loved with his whole heart. Not even Dazzle can claim that, as he still has a shred of it hidden away for the Imperial forgotten by time.
