Biography

A quiet fae who stays in the back of the cove, refusing to greet other members; only revealing herself when coming out to eat. Many members of the clan insist that she has gone mad and acts only upon the basis of her emotions.

Ah, but indeed- Lilac acted like a child, but she was an elder too. The others had no jurisdiction over her - she had seen the rise and fall of the clan, from the very beginning.

And it is in her collection of journals, scrapbooks and doodles - that history is recorded in the fairytale-esque narration of a children's book.

A journal entry:
Aged Tome
They're all gone. Nothing... Nothing left behind. Gone, all gone. Each and every one of them. Why? Why did they all have to pursuit honour, valour, and courage? Why are they all so headstrong and brave? No. I'm being selfish here. I should be happy for them. Isn't it an event worth celebrating when a sibling is exalted? Yet... I'm here mourning their departures. Why did they have to go? What if it's not safe out there? It's too late now, isn't it? Please, Shadowbinder, let them visit us again. Every time new siblings are born, each and every one of them speaks of dreams, battle, and honour. Why...? I ask again and again, but their responses never waver. It's my selfishness that's driving them away, isn't it?

A Dried Flower Bookmark
Dried Flowers
Marniel used to love reading books. She'd tuck her homemade bookmark into the soft pages as she leafed through them. It was really important to her; but not important enough to accompany her on her journey, nor enough to keep her by my side. What once meant preserved beauty now means a bitter, beautiful old memory.

A bundle of leaves:
Leafy Pack
A bundle of green leaves is placed in a corner. Insects seem to seep out of it, ants, spiders, gnats, all flowing out, leaf by leaf. A note is left by the bundled up leaves. It seems to be written on a piece of leather. "Sumiko, I know I cannot change your mind. Please, stay safe out there. Inside this bundle, there should be enough insects for you to feast upon for an entire year. Good luck, and may you serve the Shadowbinder well. -Lilac"

A basket of blackberries:
Blackberry
These used to be his favourite. Grape would always laugh as he picked them off the vines. Though he eats bugs, he always remembers to gobble up some berries as a snack. I hope he still gets to eat them, wherever he is.

A hatchling toy:
Worn Pincushion
The mouse toy is worn down, stuffing emerging from the busted stitches, its button eyes falling off, ears coming loose. It seems to have been patched up many times but to no avail; hole from needle-like objects still cover the soft felt. A name is stitched onto the plush with sky-blue thread in cursive letters: "Hades". Despite the pathetic appearance of the toy mouse, I still love it with all my heart, cherishing it with joy.

A glistening stone:
Moonstone
Selene used to collect these. On the day of her departure, she took one with her on her journey. Maybe, just maybe, I can continue her collection for her. I've only got one, though... The shiny surface of the stone reflects her bright, selfless, calm and hopeful personality. I miss her. Every full moon, she seems to smile down at us.

A chain of glowing baubles:
Glowing Pocket Bauble
Nightfall would always smile as he decorated his part of the lair with little glowing pocket baubles, flicking his wings against each one and intently watching them clash against others, creating a musical chain effect of noises. His part of the lair remains lit up with intricate baubles, but it will never be the same without him here. I hope he can see the stars at night where he lives.

A toy horse:
Dire Wooden Toy
I don't remember Nightmare much. He left at a young age, heart full of hope, and we haven't heard from him ever since. What I do remember, though, was that he enjoyed playing with toy horses as a child. He thought he was a knight, riding off into battle on a horse. He is a knight now, but he has no horse, for he is a dragon.

...

I fell asleep. I slept, I slumbered... Our clan fell to pieces, our old friends replaced with new. If there were more siblings, I... Never saw their faces before their departure.

Yet I remember three, sprinting through a storm - wings and claws faster than raindrops, ready to brace the heat of battle.

And too, another two; twins with none-the-likeness, huddling for warmth before they set off on their journey - no name was given, no training, no preparation whatsoever.

When... Will this cycle end?
