L O R E Mana Calderas are so named due to the arcane energy springing up from their rocky skin, forming wings, frills, and crystalline points all over the dragon. Turned to stone by a magical accident, the affected were too strong-willed and energetic of heart to simply stay in one place as a rock for the rest of their life. Unable to reverse the petrification, they instead took the magic coursing through them and used it to spring themselves back to life.

Mana Calderas are energetic, fun-loving, and above all, stubborn as a rock. Due to how they came to be in their new form, they have a tendency to never give up or back down. Some choose to use their strong will and boundless energy to follow their dreams that they thought impossible before, while others choose to find a companion and attempt to cheer them up. Guardians of this subspecies are particularly guilty of the latter.

The stony skin and glowing energy extremities of this breed is something that can be passed down to the Caldera’s children rather than a curse that only affects the dragon itself. Dragons born as Mana Calderas instead of being petrified into one may not have the species’ stubborn, hopeful nature due to not having the same origins. Most still have the defining energetic nature of the subspecies, however! Mana Caldera children are often described as little comets, darting through the sky as fast as their magic can carry them.
