Akeldama

I've failed... I couldn't survive, so why am I still here? What is this magic that courses through my veins? I feel so empty now. What am I? That battle, the blood, the screams and the pain... the searing pain... why can't I get it out of my head? Why am I still here? Who or what brought me back to suffer like this?
I claw my way out of my shallow grave to be met with nothing but the empty wasteland. Bones litter the ground and pulsating, creeping tendrils slowly inch forward. The smell of disease and decay assault my nostrils. I wander aimlessly, not finding any traces of life. Miles of nothing but decay. I feel nothing. I am nothing. A hollow shell of what I once was. I continue on though, unsure of my purpose, unsure of what I will find. It feels as though I have spent years walking. I finally see it! A pack of mirrors is gathered in the distance, feeding off of a recent kill. They stare at me as I approach. They are tense, scared even. I get closer and they take to the skies like a murder of crows. Why do they fear me? I look at the feast that they left behind. I should be hungry but I am not. I continue on in the direction the dragons flew, leaving the rotting carcass behind as I continue my search. What is it I'm looking for? What must I find? I come across a puddle of water after some time. Peering into it I see my reflection. Dead, cold eyes stare back at me. I see but a stranger in the water. How much I have changed. My diseased and decayed body trembled in fear of it's own reflection. Now I understand why the mirrors ran. I dont even look like a dragon anymore.
"Fear not my child."
The voice snapped me out of my stupor. I looked up and saw where I was. Green pestilence oozed and bubbled. A noxious green haze coated the air. In the cauldron of goo the Plaguebringer sat. My goddess had spoken to me.
"Mother, I'm a failure. I'm sorry." I say as I bow down to the diseased one, the mother of plague.
"You are no failure. I brought you back to spread my disease. You are an experiment of sorts. You have been infused with my magic. I think you shall serve me well." The great dragon replied.
"Yes mother, I will. Thank you for giving me a purpose."
"Now go! Go and spread the plague! Those strong enough to survive shall be my warriors!" And with that, the Plaguebringer disappeared into her oozing cauldron.
I continued my wandering, this time with more purpose.
