Chisai

Chisai had been a queen.

When war had ravaged her kingdom, she had fought alongside her people. She was as powerful as they came, more so, and she fought tooth and nail for the people she ruled over, cared about. She was a force in of herself to be reckoned with.

That was all that was known when she was found, frozen as a statue. She had been that way for decades. The feeble magic, worn by time, cracked and shattered when Chisai was discovered, and the Pearlcatcher was plunged into a world she no longer knew.

Tae'lin took her in. Cared for her, removed what magic could be removed, but her body still carried scars - chunks of opal that could not be purged, that had fused with her so intimately that attempts caused her pain. As they did not cause her damage, they were kept.

Chisai, having lost her people and her kingdom, having nowhere else to go, settled in with Tae'lin's clan. She does not talk much, her voice quiet, soft, but always with the authority of the queen she once was. But when it rains, she can be found sitting by herself. Staring out at nothing, soft and sad.

For what is a Queen, without her people?


When they found Vervada, she had cried.

Another of her lost Kingdom, stolen by magic. But here she was. Changed, but alive, thriving. She had thought she was the last one. But this gave her hope. Hope that, if one survived...

Perhaps there were others.
