Fujin is a sweet, mild-mannered imperial from the Sunbeam Ruins. His parents are canonically ancient, leaving his age to be questioned. He is the second son and ran away from his duties, instead choosing to be a simple antiques merchant in The Tribe. He fell in love with a skydancer, and did not complain when he was arranged to be paired with her. She shows his love for him by giving him little music boxes, however these are never for sale. He idolises all her trinkets, and mourns the broken ones. Unfortunately, his talent for preserving ancient scrolls and gadgets does not pass on to fixing them, but he is often too ashamed to bring them to her to fix. For an odd reason, he feels his reliance on their lovely tunes must be hidden, yet everybody who enters his stall can hear the lovely tunes playing in the background. It gives his stall a lovely vibe.

The morning was fast and loud, and already the marketplace was busy.

A queue of dragons was pouring out of Sylvari’s tent, two elderly dragons were arguing about the price of cabbages, despite the spiral attendant’s attempts at placation, and the thick smell of toasting bread was wafting over the entire scene. Fujin shifted and tucked his hands under his armpits. For a hot, tropical area, the mornings were certainly sharp and crisp. As was common for his little shop, no one was interested in his antiquities this early in the morning.

“Hey, new kid!” A fae swung in through the open tent window and landed on his desk, causing an ancient scroll to fall. Fujin caught it quickly and returned it to its place, resisting the urge to knock the fae off the desk.

“I am not sure I deserve the moniker ‘kid’, Ikki. I believe I am older than you?”
The fae held her fast to her chest in a gesture of mock affront. “Tell that to any other lady and you’ll be slapped right up the head, kid!” Holding her fist out, she dropped a small gadget into his open palm.

“The kid wanted to bring you something for the day, but she was too shy to give it to you directly. To save her moping about the store, I offered to bring it today, for a price.”
Fujin chuckled. He’d seen the pink dragon duck back behind another market stall. He expected it, Ikki usually never came without her tagging along. His betrothed, though she was frighteningly shy.

“Do I owe you anything?” he asked mildly.
Ikki shook her head, choosing to squat down instead. She was still standing in the middle of his desk.

“It’s alright, Isa’s already bought me breakfast. I think it’s a little music box, test it out when I’m gone.”

She indicated at the little gadget in his hand. He looked down at it, then placed it gently on the shelf above her. “Thankyou, Ikki, and give the little one my gratitude. Perhaps a suggestion? I would love if it played music while I worked today, so that I had a constant reminder of her.”

Ikki’s eyes sparkled. “Aah, she has already thought of that. Place it in the sunlight on your store front and be sure to thank her personally.” With that, she jumped off the desk and exited the store like a normal dragon. Fujin closed the door behind her and walked back to the little music box. He marvelled its elegant design and listened to the tinkle of moving parts when he rotated the gadget.

Taking it off the shelf, he placed it on the cash desk in the store, angling it so the sun would catch it during the day.

And just like magic, the machine came to life. Two little metal sheets opened, with tiny mirrors inlaid on them. They caught the sunlight and brought it deep into the machine. Soon Fujin could hear little cogs whirling and clicking, then a chime began to play. The sound was nostalgic and hinted of a lost childhood. It was beautiful and melancholic, and suddenly Fujin didn’t want to man the stall today.

He locked the door to the store, placed the closed sign up in the window, covered the ancient scrolls and trinkets, and left through the back door. His first visit was to his own home, high up in the branches. Carrying a massive rolled up blanket, he visited the basketweaver and flirted his way at a cheaper price. Then the baker, with her cinnamon pastries and ginger pies. A quick stop at the cook for some hot water, and a sachet of tea from Eros, and finally, he stood in the centre of Isa’s massive workshop. Ikki was chuckling at his arrival, and Isa was nervously fidgeting with another of her golems. Her main golem, Rust, had greeted him at the door and was idly copying Isa’s fiddling.

He held up the basket full of goods.

“Today is a lovely day, would you like to go for a picnic?”

RELATIONS -

Isa
Mate
━━━━━━━ X ━━━━━━━━
For an arranged marriage, the two seem to get along very nicey. Isa met Fujin at the marketplace, and got along very nicely, despite not actually talking to him. Fujin's parents encouraged the marriage from their lofty positions up in the Sunbeam Ruins, for they were never very accepting of Fujin's profession. Fujin never told them what Isa's profession was.

Friend
━━━━━━━ X ━━━━━━━━
Ikki is the adoptive grandmother of Isa, and the easiest to talk to out of the trio. Fujin adores her like an auntie, and Ikki enjoys exchanging banter with him. It is always fun to watch Fujin place a polite spin on an otherwise scorching insult.

Nuuzael
Friend
━━━━━━━ X ━━━━━━━━
Nuuzael is one of the most popular dragons alone, purely for the delicious pastries she brings to the marketplace. The smell of her cooking alone helps attract customers, and every dragon in the marketplace notices a dramatic drop in purchases whenever Nuuzael is off sick.
