Tanyph and Alata enjoy the sweeter things in life, particularly if those things are food. Alata is a confectionist - a candymaker, spinning sugar into delicious treats. Tanyph on the other hand is a baker with a specialty in cakes. The pair is well up before dawn in order to supply food both to the clan and any travelers that they come across. Usually a hoard of hatchlings follow in their wake, begging for a treat. Alata and Tanyph, while normally soft-hearted, have to make sure not to overload the young ones on too much sugar.

Many in the clan believe Alata has no Charge, though she is clearly not on her Search either. She never mentions a Charge nor seems to pay attention to anything an unusual amount, even her candy-making which she obviously enjoys. A few of the other Guardians regard Alata with some suspicion - for if she has no Charge, or lost hers, how can she be so complacent? Yet, unbeknownst to them, Alata does have a Charge. It is a secret. A secret she was entrusted with and cannot share with anyone else, not even Tanyph. She knows the keeping of this secret is of the upmost importance and she will guard it for the rest of her life. Amusingly enough, if Alata were asked if she had a Charge, she would say yes (but not tell them what it is), yet no one in the clan has ever asked.
