Biography

Pecan
The Earthshaker's Blessed

Pecan loves fall: the harvest, the time spent with family and friends, the cozy feeling of seeing the bright colors of leaves through a cave entrance. She likes to bake warm treats and organize gatherings for the other dragons of the clan, as well as watch over hatchlings (for short periods of time, at least). Although she doesn't particularly agree with the overall purpose of the Coalition, the connections she's formed here are more important to her than finding a clan where everyone agrees with her.

Traditions are very important for Pecan, and she dislikes the unconventional religious and political attitudes of many of the younger dragons. This doesn't mean she'll get in an argument though--she loves comfort and warm feelings too much to start or continue debates. She isn't entirely easygoing, however. Some dragons find her to be very bossy, and she doesn't tolerate others interrupting her peace for long. Generally though, she is a warm-hearted dragon and merely wants everyone to be content.

One eventful Rockbreaker's Ceremony, Pecan entered the Hungry Games as a competitor to bring an offering of food to the Earthshaker on top of his Pillar. She thought it sounded like a fun break from watching over the hatchlings, and anything involving food seemed appealing. She was in no way prepared, however, for the cutthroat fight that followed, with dragons knocking each other out with food left and right. Without much fighting or gathering skill, Pecan had a near empty collection bag for days. She tried to team up with other dragons, but these alliances were all fruitless, and soon faded. She quickly grew frustrated and almost gave up.

But the kind-hearted Olivine offered to let Pecan stay with her for a night, and the gesture of friendship was perfectly timed to revitalize Pecan's spirits. She managed to become one of the last competitors, and made her way towards the Pillar. On the way, she was abruptly run into by another dragon--a huge Snapper--and with adrenaline fueling her body managed to have enough strength to swipe the dragon with her tail and hit her halfway across the arena! Pecan took the dragon's offering bag and made her way towards the Pillar. Shocked, she saw one of the two remaining dragons trip her friend Olivine and take her out of the game.

Determined to prove herself and avenge her friend by making sure she beat that other dragon to the top of the Pillar, Pecan threw herself against the side of the Pillar and scaled it like a rock wall. As one of her competitors was knocked out by bees, she raced her final opponent--the one who had disqualified her friend--to the top. She eventually tired and moved over to the steps, barely managing to do so without falling off. The other dragon, a wildclaw, ran along her back to gain the lead, and she took a risk, flying high into the air and soaring down to pounce on him. She grabbed his offering bag and threw him off of the Pillar, landing at the top in front of the Earthshaker himself! She was the victor.

She knelt before the dragon god, exhausted from her exertion, and gave him the bags of food with which he could sustain himself through the winter. Only Pecan knows what words he said to her on the top of that monument, but she came down with self-confidence, strength, and the ability to bake the best pecan pies Sornieth has ever seen.
