L O R E . Rotwood dragons are ones who've been infected by mutated seeds from The Viridian Labyrinth. The seeds change the host's biology into a gruesome amalgamation of flora and fauna. It is theorized that the 'seeds' were actually Nature eggs, stolen for modification by the Plaguebringer herself. Following their transformation, Rotwood dragons gain the ability to photosynthesize and extract nutrients from the ground. However, the dragon must stay in motion more consistently than before, lest they take root. Their skin hardens and thickens into a bark-like texture. Due to this, syrupy blood constantly oozes where it has been damaged during movement. It is rumored that the Plaguemother created this subspecies to scorn the Gladekeeper and to spy in her domain. As a result, they are greatly concentrated in Nature territory, but Rotwoods additionally find the plaguelands very beneficial. They can extract many pathogens and viruses from the diseased earth to strengthen their toxins, though they must take special care not to become someone's lunch.
