LORE, NOT WRITTEN BY ME
Quote:
The beginning of Maja’s life was not a happy occasion. She hatched in the Beacon of the Radiant Eye—at the top of the tower itself, for she was the Lightweaver’s child. Not crafted from magic, as some dragons are, but sired by a mortal dragon.

She saw her father only once: a dark-scaled Mirror standing in the doorway, flanked by impassive guards. “Step forth,” boomed the Lightweaver’s voice, “and look upon your daughter.” The light that poured from her golden body was blinding, yet it could not hide the stricken look on Maja’s father’s face.

Nothing more was said of him after that, and Maja never saw him again. She wasn’t surprised, though, for his face had said all too clearly, “I cannot raise this child.”

Unfortunately, this proved true for the Lightweaver as well. Maja was but a few days old when the Lightweaver ordered that she be taken away. The unsympathetic exalts dumped her in the wilds of the Sunbeam Ruins, far from the Beacon. She was perhaps not in as much peril as she might’ve been, had she been mortal—even though she was newly hatched, she was still a demigoddess with great magic of her own.

Still, life without other dragons was hard. Maja had to learn everything from scratch: what food was safe and what was not, where to find water and shelter, and how to avoid danger. She soon managed to scratch out a den for herself. It wasn’t a place one would expect to find a demigoddess in, but it was hers, and she would defend it if necessary.

Though she’d been scorned by both gods and mortals, she still had a place in this world. In time, she might come into greatness befitting a deity’s child...but for now, she had to survive.

LORE, WRITTEN BY ME

Maja is definitely what one would call the "strong and solitary" type.
Having lived on her own for so long before meeting Maxene, Maja is
used to relying on herself and only herself to get things done. The
idea of putting faith and trust in others is... quite frightening, to
say the least. When push comes to shove, Maja is more of a doer than a
thinker, preferring to take action immediately when needed. She is
quick to take the lead no matter what she's doing, which can sometimes
lead to conflicts between herself and Xavia, their lead fighter. While
she prefers to be alone, she won't say no to spending time with her
mate or family.

EARLY LIFE

Maja is what's known as a Deity's Child, meaning she is, essentially,
a demigod. The Lightweaver is her mother, and she was fathered by an
unknown Mirror who fled when he learned of Maja's birth. Naturally,
the Lightweaver had no time to take care of a hatchling, so Maja was
unceremoniously dumped in the Sunbeam Ruins and left to fend for
herself.

Normally, Mirrors will form a pack, or some other kind of group, but
Maja had no knowledge of what proper Mirror behavior even was. She,
quite literally, had to raise herself; she never got to learn about
the customs of her kind. Being so isolated, she also never had the
time to learn about other dragons' customs. All she really knew about
the world around her was what was immediately within her territory,
and the few migratory dragons who passed through it. Everything else
was a mystery to her, and a mystery she didn't bother with figuring
out. Her main task was staying alive in a dangerous world, after all;
she had little time for much else.

Over the years, Maja slowly grew more curious about the world around
her, and what lied outside of her territory, but she dared not
explore. Despite not being the type to, she also feared that which she
did not know, as most creatures do. However, change literally came
crashing into her life one day, whether she liked it or not, in the
form of a Guardian female named Maxene.

Maxene was on a search for her Charge, as all Guardians are at some
point, and she ended up crashing into the traps Maja had set around
her home. Maxene explained that the Charge she was looking for had to
be around there somewhere, and asked Maja if it would be okay if she
could stay. Reluctantly, Maja agreed to allow her to, so long as she
didn't get in her way. As it turned out, the Charge Maxene was looking
for was a small patch of ideal nesting ground not far from where Maja
had made her home. Once she found this out, she asked if she could
stay permanently, to which Maja agreed. Secretly, she had seen her
chance to get to know the outside world, and was going to take it.

After that, Maja took the opportunity to ask Maxene about what life
was like outside of this territory she had grown up in. She explained
to Maxene who and what she was, and was surprised to find out that
Maxene was also technically a Deity's Child; her father was the
Tidelord, but she had been laid and hatched in Light territory, which
of course led to her being of the Light element. She had been raised
by her mother, but had left her in order to find her Charge. Before
that, though, Maxene learned a good bit about other dragons and the
world of Sornieth. Needless to say, her knowledge far surpassed that
of Maja's. When Maja learned of dragons forming Clans, she was
immediately interested, and wanted to form her own.
