Krovum
"Sometimes the best academic tool is an active imagination."

History

At the intersection of the new bogsneak culture and Arcane culture, Krovum's upbringing would have seemed quite strange to the Light dragons of Brightleaf. There were high expectations on him to perform well, particularly in academics, but he was also raised to be as fiercely independent and hermit-like as his kin. Since he needed to accomplish much with little face-to-face interaction, he was well-disposed to philosophy. His work often received accolades for its precision and novelty.

Krovum learned about Brightleaf from Kerner, and decided to take a look for himself. The journey from Arcane to Light was somewhat arduous for a flightless dragon, but he managed. He arrived unannounced and began taking notes. Before long he had found multiple magic experiments he wanted to perform, and while they were underway he also needed to work on a paper he was writing. Eventually the clan figured out that he was not interested in leaving.

Occupation: Scholar
Krovum comes from a prestigious line of Arcane bogsneak scholars. His own study has been in two main areas: metaphysics, the branch of philosophy that deals with the fundamental nature of reality, and magic philosophy, specifically epistemology (what can/can't be known) of magic. He has multiple degrees and several awards in this field. Other academics find his work to be obscure; more down-to-earth dragons would find it to be nonsensical.

Role in clan: Arcane flight academic liaison
While he has technically retired from the Arcane learning institutions and has no further obligations to them, he keeps in touch with a number of Arcane dragons via magitech and letters, and he plans to continue publishing papers as he learns more about the glowtrees and the generator.

Personality and quirks
He does not mind telling others when he dislikes something; since the bright sunshine of the region hurts his eyes and burns his skin, he can often find something to complain about.

Clan interactions
He acts very protective of the others in the clan, as he is older but also very strong. He also considers himself very wise, and takes it upon himself to pass on that wisdom when it seems appropriate to him. However, he is not very familiar with the customs of Light dragons, and this can get him in trouble.

Krovum has a great deal of respect for Luin's work and often asks her about it. She, in turn, has some interest in his work as well. These conversations led to Tinc forming an interest in philosophy, and Krovum started explaining the basics to him in ways that he could understand.

Trivia

His favorite food is plantains.

Krovum is longer and heavier than all of the pearlcatchers, and virtually all of the mid-size dragons. His wings are small even for a bogsneak, however, and he does not fly at all.
Krovum and Zinnia are similar in body size, but Krovum is stockier, while Zinnia has appreciable wings.
