bio ❧ They say you can find none so loyal to their family as a Crow, and few so loyal as Martyn. Abandoned by his parents as a hatchling for being too soft on his enemies, Martyn was forced to wander from his home near the Rotrock Rim. He braved the dangers of the Boneyard and the Contagion, making his way through the Tangled Wood and into the Hewn City of Light. There, he met his future family: A Seer named Nephelle and a librarian by the name of Alruccabah. The couple took the strange hatchling in, shielding him from the calculating gaze of the clan’s leader and teaching him the ways of knowledge. Martyn grew up to be wise beyond his years, drinking in his parent’s beloved books and his mother’s knowledge of the future. In return, he vowed to use his training from his early days to protect his family. One day, a stranger wandered into the Mori Clan, bleeding heavily from wounds along his side and missing a wing. The wildclaw, a Lesser Eboncrow named Strainet, had run into a pack of Effluvial Crows and suffered heavily. Martyn was immediately taken by the other, and worked long and hard to gain his trust and affections. Like his mother, Martyn holds little love for his clanmates beyond his family. He holds little love for his heritage as well, blaming Crows for his and his sister's abandonment and the near-death of his beloved mate. He can often be found reading with his parent and mate and fortune telling with his mother using his only link to the past, a gilded coin made by his powerful father. He refuses to tell Strainet’s future, afraid of what he’ll find.

notes ❧ Martyn has a sister named Red, a Lesser Crow somehow born into the family who was given one ultimatum: Leave or die. She joined a nearby clan, and often travels with her clan’s ambassador, Pyre, to visit and converse with her brother. Martyn is very protective over his sister and would do nearly anything for her.

trivia ❧ > Name is a variant of “Martin”, which means “of war/warlike”. At first glance, this couldn’t be farther from the truth. But when his family is threatened… > Never really understood why most Crows hate Lessers so much. After all, his sister is one, and his wonderful mate is an Eboncrow. > Hopes his old family never finds his new one, and dreads the day that will change.
