He/Him
He/Him
notes; typically adourns himself in the bones of others he's found, from a mostly intact skull and spine, to a few smaller vertebrae earrings stuck through his fin.
redacted's sibling
very protective of those he sees as family (the entire clan/pack), due to the trauma of his past - losing his birth pack while he was still a young dragonet, and then his sister a few months later
Hazards family has changed a lot throughout his life. Once, during a time he was so small that he can barely remember, there were many. A pack, he guesses, that brought forth a vague feeling of warmth, love, and belonging.
But then something changed, something happened.
Something bad.
And just like that, suddenly his family was small. He only had his younger sister and brother, as the three dragonets were thrust into a harsh world, barely out of the egg.
Hazard, being the oldest, had to take up the role of the leader. Had to grow up too quickly to protect his siblings, to protect what little of his family was left.
And for a while, it was good. Sometimes they were lucky, managing to find a meal without needing to steal it out from under another dragons nose. Other times when they had to, they were able to sneak away with some unlucky dragons lunch without a scratch.
There were plenty of little nooks and crannies across the Scarred Wasteland, that they could easily fit in thanks to their small sizes, that quickly became a place they could take shelter in without fear of being attacked.
At times it got hard, chased away by other dragons or beastclans when looking for food if they were lucky, getting attacked if they weren't. But they had each other, and thats all they could ask for.
And then Vulture was killed.
Hazard can remember the day clearly, how could he not? He'd been forced to take a break by his siblings, to rest and heal after being injured the previous day trying to get a meal. An angry Toridae had attacked him when he tried to flee, nearly taking out an eye and leaving a large gash spanning across his fin down to his face.
And with Hazard out of comission due to the failed hunt, it was up to Vulture as the second eldest to find their next meal. He had tried to argue, insisting the injury wasn't that bad, that he could go back out there and find something. But he was quickly shut down by both of his siblings, and she left their safe spot soon after, leaving him in the care of their other sibling, Redacted.
As the two waited for their sister to return, they confided in him that they also didn't want her to go, or at least not alone. They'd wanted to go with her, to help in some way, but she'd quickly convinced them to stay and watch over Hazard. 'Besides,' she had said, 'it shouldn't take too long to find something!'
Time went on as the two waited. Day quickly turned to night, and anxiety quickly crept in and ate away at the two siblings.
[tba, gotta figure out how to write them finding out about her death]
Once again, Hazard's family had grown smaller.
Moving on without Vulture was... difficult. Hazard would sometimes glance over his shoulder, expecting a snarky retort or playful eyeroll in response to what he'd just said, only to remember when he saw nobody was there. Redacted would start to ask a question, and cut themselves off mid-sentance when they realized the one they were asking was gone.
Sometimes they would sneak out of their current shelter at night, to look up at the twinkling night sky. They'd overheard superstitions about those who have passed on becoming another one of the many small, glittering lights in the sky from a pack several moons back. Which one was she, the two siblings would wonder. Was she watching over them right now?
The thought brought them comfort, and over time, they began to heal. Losing her would always hurt, but the idea of her watching over them gave them the strength to move on.
Hazard and Redacted grew into adults, roaming the lands. Sometimes they managed to find a clan or pack that let them stay temporarily, or on the rare occasion offered a place for them. But for a one reason or another, they never accepted.
One time it was because the pack felt the need to scrutinize Redacted, simple because he was a fae. It didn't matter to them that they'd been born into a pack, had been raised alongside mirror pups and acted more like a mirror than a fae, they only saw his size and physical differences. They hadn't stayed with that pack for very long.
