This dragon is a member of the Lightning flight subspecies Lichtenberg and meets the very specific coloration and genetic criteria set forth by that flight.

Lichtenberg dragons are wild and unpredictable in their movements. Like a storm, they are swift and harsh in their judgements, and will strike their targets with utmost accuracy. This makes them formidable hunters and fighters, and they often strike most frequently above the spires, during the loudest of Stormcatchers’ bellows. It is said amongst lairs near the Tempest Spire where sightings are most common, that the strikes of Lichtenberg Ridgebacks increase in frequency and ferocity during the time that their spines molt.

The Molt is the shedding of spines that all ridgebacks go through, and it is a natural occurrence which gives the breed a reputation for being short tempered and irritable. However with the already 'short fused' Lichtenbergs, the molt is truly a time to mark down for others to know when not to approach a dragon, as no thought is spared to controlling their tempers.

Lichtenberg dragons are not known for being merciful. Due to their infamy gained by rumours of their speed and general unpredictability, they have also been nicknamed “Cruel Strikers”. They show no remorse in what they strike, whether this is an object, patch of land, food or even another dragon that has strayed close to the land they call home. They are also highly territorial, and again, during The Molt it is extremely difficult for a Lichtenberg to tell friend from foe- the phrase “let sleeping dragons lie” has an all new meaning when it comes to these storm like dragons.
