Children of the brawlers learn how to use their teeth and claws to maim before they even fly. Most are brutal, vicious and won’t hesitate to rip the throat out of anyone who stands in their way. They cause nothing but chaos and strife where they walk; it’s no wonder that they lead solitary lives.

Even the precious few who choose to turn their backs on this ruthlessness and lonely existence still struggle with the bloodthirst.

The one lesson they learn, ‘only the strong survive’, is ingrained in their bones.

And who are they, exactly, to deny their nature?
Xande takes to his parents' inclinations like a duck to... er, fire. He's not very good with the metaphors. You get the picture.

But he makes peace with his upbringing faster than one might expect. Unbeknownst to his parents, he takes an interest in the art of diplomacy. Unusual for a child of two warmongers, but there are much better ways to test one's mettle than to plunge straight into conflict.

Besides, who better to broker peace than one who understands the consequences of war?

This isn't to say that Xande is helpless; he is his parents' son, after all, and no child of Maephis and Courante ever grows complacent in watching their back. He may help forge alliances and sign treaties, but do not be mistaken: the only dragon he's ever trusted is the one that stares back at him when he looks into a mirror.
