Children of the endless hunger and the eternal fast often have appetites that far exceed what is expected of their slender frames and gaunt faces.

Those who are not cursed with a bottomless pit for a stomach are the lucky ones, though they learn very quickly that they cannot trust their own siblings to keep their mouths shut and their hunger abated.

Fortunately, all become very efficient hunters, if not for necessity then for self-preservation.

Even with the precautions and measures their parents take-- well. Instinct is a fickle creature. Hunger is an unpredictable one.

There are no surviving runts borne of the union between Charion and Alderrim. They have never lived to maturity.

Iuras doesn't talk of her past. If you were to ask about the claw marks down her chest and about the rips in her wings, she'll never speak a word to you again.

She also does not discuss her family. Ask about them and those wounds, and she'll happily introduce the sharp end of her knife to the space between your ribs.

The hunger has never bothered her as much as it did her father and sister. In any case, she keeps herself well-fed with the spoils of the hunt and only comes to town when she needs something that she cannot hunt, forage or scavenge for.

She still has nightmares about teeth closing around her neck, claws trying to rip her chest open. She still screams in her sleep.

She's still running.
