Brief
Birthed from the seafoam at dusk, this beautiful Mirror longs for three things in life:

to find a mate as beautiful and with as lovely a singing voice as herself;
to meet the Tidelord face to face, rather than through the vague prophetic dream-states common to all the Water flight, that she may more perfectly sing his praises;
to once, just once, have a legitimate reason to rip another dragon to shreds. Then, perhaps, she can be released of the gnawing bloodlust that is the curse of all Mirrors. Or perhaps not…

After receiving a particular vision from the Tidelord, that her clan would someday gather representatives from all flights, she discovered that she had been wreathed in smoke. The lines on her body represent the winding trails followed by all present and future members of the clan.

Story: Aoide's Birth
The last rays of the setting sun glinted off the tidepools, turning the water’s surface to a glimmering purple. The waves gently lapping the shore carried with them flecks of green and blue. At that moment, all seemed still and peaceful, but there was an atmosphere of anticipation, like a held breath. For one instant even the waves ceased moving.

Then there came the faintest of sounds, like a sigh but as low as a thunderstorm across the sea. The surface of the Sea of a Thousand Currents rippled in all directions. Dragons in clans all around stirred in their sleep; the Seers and Prophets that were scrying at the moment paused to look at the omens: a new-birth, born of the Tidelord himself.

The tidal pools were disturbed as a dragon suddenly rolled over, sending little splashes everywhere. Her body was the color of the purple sunset, her wings the color of the seaweed in the pools, her four Mirror eyes were colored with the inheritance of the Tidelord. She shook herself, and scrambled out of the pool, heading straight for the Sea itself. She paused a moment to look at her reflection in another pool; the sight thrilled her with its beauty. She stretched her wings for joy, and flapped them once; she was aloft! She soared out over the ocean, then twisted and dove straight down.

Immediately she was wreathed in bubbles. She heard the Tidelord whisper her name, “Aoide…”

She opened her mouth, and a thin stream of music came forth. Muffled under the water, yet powerful enough to travel great distances. She sang the praises of the Tidelord, and he saw that her praise was good.

Her song went on for hours, but it had to cease eventually. A strange new sensation filled her body, one that was not exactly pleasant. A school of fish swam by, and by instinct she snapped out at them. Her song quieted as she gave way to this new desire--she was hungry!

Her praise to the Tidelord forgotten for the moment, she darted here and there under the water, snapping up fish, crabs, seaweed (she didn’t like that much), and even a small snake.

Once more she heard the Tidelord’s voice: “Aoide...daughter...singer of beauty...go!...live your life…” She saw a vision of the shoreline, of a rocky cave with room for dens, of a clan of many dragons, all as beautiful as herself, all singing the praises of the Tidelord. She sang a short song of rejoicing, and headed for the shore.
