ROLE: Missing Half

Because ShadowStar is only half of a soul, he has a tendency to be somewhat muted unless he is around his other half.

"Are you sure this is going to work?" The little fae eyed the much larger nocturne with a skeptical look. StarShadow's wings fluttered as the magic user peered again into the crystal.

With a sigh, Moonsong shifted her scrying orb away from the nervously wiggling dragon. "You can never really be sure if the stars will give you the answers you are looking for, but they will always give you something."

The shifting pictures in the crystal ball began to clear a little and show a gray-tinged sky with the stars shining through the stormy clouds. A cloud of purplish energies traced out dancing patterns around and through the distinctive sky. "What does that even mean, Moonsong? I asked it why I felt so alone!" StarShadow almost knocked the orb off the table trying to get a closer look.

"It means you apparently have another side that is out there wandering, looking for you." With a sigh the nocturne sat back, eyes slightly sad. "I guess we'll have to see if they actually make it."

... At the same time a tiny dragon on one side of the land was wondering if he'd ever meet the other half of his energies, an exhausted skydancer was just wishing there were somewhere he could sit and rest without feeling like he had to keep moving. Ever since his hatching, he'd been consumed with the need to push forward. He hadn't even been comfortable with his parents and nestmates. Every moment had been filled with the idea that something was missing.

After so long wandering, it felt as if he had crossed the entire world. ShadowStar limped toward the series of caves he saw along the shoreline. Even if there were no one else there, it would be a place to rest. When the exhausted dragon finally reached the sand, he was greeted by a whirling dervish of a fae who fluttered around his head squeaking excitedly.

Though his voice was the usual monotone of most fae, StarShadow somehow made up for the lack of tone by the sheer amount of joy his body and eyes radiated. "You're finally here! I've missed you so!" With no other words, the little one landed himself between the larger dragon's wings.

ShadowStar was utterly befuddled on most levels, but in his heart he could feel the constant tension finally beginning to release its hold on him. Craning his head to look at the tiny creature cuddling close, ShadowStar noticed that the little one had the same night markings on his wings that graced his own. Their stars, literally, aligned. With a rush of emotion, the long-lost dragon found he felt like he had finally reached his destination. The sensation of being incomplete was totally gone, and it was with a light heart that he followed his other half's directions into his new home.

It wasn't long before the skydancer realized that one of the reasons he was so confused about life was that he was in the wrong body. As such, he appealed to the gods. With hope, but no real expectations, he went to bed one night wishing... and woke up in a body shape matching that of his soulmate. It was then that he realized that his journey was finally, completely, at an end.
