An adventurous life is hardly the lot for a beauty, she thought, and she left Oakrest under the pretense of finding her ren to demand answers to so many questions. What she really left to do, however, was to remake herself as a desert princess, lost and struggling, so that another clan might take pity on her, take her in, and understand that she was worth so much more than the trouble she might provide. If she could marry into wealth and power, all the better.

When she sometimes thinks better of her choice, she just looks in the mirror and smiles. She looks so good draped in silks and gold.
