LORE

"1…2…3…"

In the sunlight room of the Clan's dully colored supply sorting room, Piper, a brightly colored female gaoler, contrasted with her environment as she counted a pile of different scales into their proper categories. She tried to place them as neatly as possible.

Earlier today, The Berserkers trainees, Sasha and Nayomi, has come over with newly acquired hoard of object, a large one at that, from their expeditions. The gaoler, while used to do this sorting job, was alone today. She was greeted with painful winces and words of support from the two young warriors before they left for ther daily training.

It was not good day for Bramble, her only work colleague, to not be here but sadly, he was sick. He ate too much last night and was paying the price for it. She had warned him but he didn't listen. Now, she was stuck doing all of this herself.

"10…11..12. 12 molted scales" she finished counting and wrote down the results on the supply book. She carefully gathered the molted scales and placed them in their respective compartment. She gave a glance back to the large hoard and sighed, she barely did a dent in it with all the work she done. she still had to finish sorting the small pile of scales on the table.

"Oh, Piper" she softly said to herself. "It will be a long day of sorting and counting" she chuckled lightly, feeling herself deflate sightly at the thought. She looked at the small clock mounted on the wall. it's been a few hours now.

"I say, I earned myself a break to relax" she smiled gently as she grabbed her gathering satchel and walked out the door for fresh air, not before leaving a note to Bramble, in case he came down from his room.

Leaving the usual ruckus of the mercantile section she lived in, Piper found a quiet area not too far of the clan and sat down on the grass, inhaling the air deeply. She exhaled slowly and closed her eyes, enjoying the breeze blowing through her fur.

Her mind wandered through different thoughts as she took the time for herself. Seeing the two trainees earlier has sparked some old memories of hers. 'Has it been 8 years now?' she thought, tilting her head as she kept her eyes closed.

The old days of being a warrior herself back in the clan she grew up. She remember fighting against various creatures to protect the clan. The praises she had from her comrades about her tactics in battle.

the thrilling joy she left as she torn enemies to shred.

the blood stains against her fur.

the smell of carnage…

She opened her eyes swiftly, shaken at the grim thoughts intruded her mind. "This…" she gently whispered to herself. "This is no longer the life you have, Piper." She sat in silence before she spots a small white daisy close by. She gently cradles the fragile flower with her claw. "You are a lucky plant, you know."she spoke the flower in amusement. "I am not feeling hungry right now" she chuckled as the plant swayed with the wind.

"I should get back to work now. The hoard won't get sorted by itself." she convinced herself she stood up, preparing herself mentally to the job ahead. "It is a long, monotone and tiring job but…" her stare lingers on the plant before deciding to pluck the daisy. The female Gaoler delicately puts it on her head as decoration. "This is the life I have now and I wouldn't change it at all" she declares to the air, happy with herself

As she prepared to leave, something catches her eyes.

Blackberries.

"Oh, how funny" she exclaimed to herself as she approached the bush. "I had a talk about those a few days ago." she stared at the deep purple berries, sprinkled with a few red immature ones around. Piper hums in thoughts before smiling to herself as she carefully grabbed a few and pocketed them into the satchel. "I know a sparkly blackberry who will be happy" she affirms as she pats the satchel. "At least, if he can stomach them at the moment" she giggles to herself and sighs.

Making sure she forgets nothing, Piper gives one last look to the bush and her temporary resting area before walking back to the clan she calls home now.

Piper, an organized gaoler with full of thoughts, is one of the Supplier of Sharpfang's clan. Like her colleague, Bramble, she is a hardworker and the stronger of the two. she will usually be the one to carry the heavy items around.

Unlike Bramble, Piper likes to her the things organized into categories and such. Makes it easier to locate and find whatever objects a merchant asks. Sadly, living with a coalt that is often lost in thoughts, things will get displaced around and she has to clean after him often.

Piper used to belong in another clan before joining Sharpfang's clan 8 years ago. She hardly talks about her old clan and prefer to keep quiet about it as it brings painful, unwanted memories to her. The only info she has shared was that she used to be among her old clan's warriors. A life with more actions but she insist that she like her current lifestyle and home much better. she wouldn't change it for the world.

The news of the calamity has reached her ears after hearing some of the berserkers trainees talk about it among them and the enemies they met related to it. Troubling news to her but she has confidence for the clan's warriors to deal with it.

It does sound familiar, though.
