Nobody defied gods without proper reason, and Rucks was no exception. As a child, he could never imagine doing such a thing. Quite frankly, he didn't think of his future at all. He was that one spineless goody two-shoes who annoyed other children and always became the teacher's pet. Mentors were glad to impose their views upon him, and Rucks could never say no.

He was good at chemistry, if not brilliant. However, he was told that no scientists were needed, and so he humbly trained to be a field medic instead. Once experienced enough, Rucks was exalted to serve in the Lightweather's ranks. He never was generous with emotions, not even when his brother, Kapa, was lost. However, even though Rucks had no illusions about war, he still lost the ground under his feet. He tried hard to help, to heal each and every warrior in need - not only dragons, but also Beastclan members - and he suffered from nightmares and unanswered questions. Time and practise made him stronger indeed. He served for years and finished plenty of successful operations. He even procured a banjo to share some blues with battle buddies, to appeal to their finer feelings after a hard day. Youngsters were inspired by his deeds. Rucks was a hero, somebody you'd least suspect of weakness, but on the inside he was full of conflicts. When he couldn't endure anymore, he escaped with a small group of followers. Back in the Sunbeam Ruins, they parted ways. He was left alone with his regrets.

Escaping from his past, Rucks tried various jobs. Vagrant life gave him enough time to rethink his doubts. And all this time he hadn't stopped making plans to save other soldiers. When Plato found him, Rucks was ready to act. It turned out they had the same view of Dominance wars. The Fae promised to hide the deserter - in exchange for his knowledge in chemistry. Rucks accepted the offer gladly. War had taught him to make risky decisions, and time had shown him what exactly he needed to do. He would stop the gods and their pointless game. No more war. No more regrets.

• Rucks is surprisingly good at drawing. Other scientists usually ask him to make some fauna sketches.
• He can play the banjo while humming some old folksy songs. "Brave Blue Bee" is Kapa's favourite, though he usually falls asleep while listening.
• Asks rhetorical questions, then stares intently.
• "You make a sweet noise there, pal. Mind teaching me some chords?"

*He ain't no Bastion fandragon, though he recieved his name in honour of this song's in-game performer.
