Irarubu slogged through murky water towards the next mangrove tree, the beads and feathers draped on his wings gently swishing with each step. Reaching its huge arching roots, he dipped lower in the water and began running his claws along the submerged parts of the tree. Finding a clump of oysters, he set about prying them off the roots. Each loosed oyster went into the waterlogged leather pouch at his side, adding to the pile accumulating inside.

With a rustle of feathers, his Windcarve Fugitive alighted in the upper branches of the mangrove tree. A moment later, a heavy bag smacked Irarubu in the face and then fell into the water.

“Hey!” he cried, grabbing the bag of mangrove crabs before it could sink beneath the surface. He looked up at the harpy. “What was that for?”

The Fugitive pointed one talon past Irarubu. He turned, peering into the shade of the large cluster of trees behind him. Several pairs of glowing eyes peer out from the shadows.

After a moment, the eyes began to move. Like shadows themselves, several smaller dragons detached themselves from the trees. Startled, the large guardian dragon whirled around, only to see more of the Banescales appearing all around him.

“Hello, great Guardian,” one of the dragons intoned. “We are the Banescale Suncult, and we are in need of your assistance.”

The Search is the core tenet of being a Guardian, and until a dragon has its charge, it is only considered a half-being. Irarubu is aware of this, though he isn't worried by his lack of charge, just yet. He is searching, yes, but he is also putting his own life in order. After all, one cannot help others if one cannot help himself.

Self-sufficient, and crafty, Irarubu enjoys nature, especially collecting feathers and making wood carvings. He often thinks of the hatchlings he will have and the skills he will teach them. He is smart- one cannot learn magic and survive without a high level of intelligence, but he is young and inexperienced, with a naive streak a mile-wide. So of course, when a group of Banescale - isolated and in need of help - ask for his aid. He doesn't think twice.

Because first and foremost, Irarubu is a guardian. He is honorable. He is noble. And he understands that urge to find a place to settle down and call home. That is all the Banescale want, right? He doesn't know much of this "suncult," but he knows they need his help.
