Early one morning, as Rakeshi was sleeping next to priestess mama and wrapped around his egg friend, his egg friend started to shake. Frightened, Rakeshi jumped up and woke Mama.

As Sorna was waking from a night's sleep, she saw the second Banescale egg starting to hatch. After an exhausting time breaking shell, Thrawn tumbled out from the armored fragments to see his friend of silent centuries and a mama? But much bigger than Mama?

Still a Mama, big and warm like a Mama. Thrawn and Rakeshi huddled together, completing the bond of sitting side by side in their eggs for time unfathomable and huddling under Sorna in the early morning.

Thrawn is quieter and more careful than Rakeshi's curiousity and nosiness, and tends to hang back when adult dragons approach the two hatchlings. The most striking part of Thrawn's birth, besides also being not Fire elemented, is the many eyes down his body. Thrawn is his new clan's first direct experience of the magical surge in the elements that has led to strange and spectacular new eyes showing in clan nesting grounds.

Thrawn and Rakeshi's bond is not entirely understood by the clan, the two hatchlings are almost never apart, but Sorna just accepts this as part of the nature of the Flamecaller's first children. But the hatchlings' bond was formed over eons in silent eggs side by side amidst the last remnants of the ancient adults who protected the clutches.

Rakeshi doesn't mind his "egg friend" disappearing, because now he has a friend friend, a friend whose presence is as comforting as egg friend's. And for Thrawn, Rakeshi is a comforting presence and buffer against other strange dragons, since Rakeshi is not strange.

As Rakeshi has entered puberty and Thrawn is on the verge of it, Thrawn is getting more confident but he's still the quieter and more thoughtful of the two young males, in comparison to Rakeshi's motor mouth and energy. He's taken an interest in the workings of the clan's mages and alchemists, even if he has to balance on one leg and use the other to handle the goos, oozes, and slimes of Whimshadow's alchemy. And he's quite impressed with the Skydancers in general, even if he's almost getting bigger than them already as an adolescent, particularly his fellow teens Rynian, Atraxi, and Dolly.
