{ She/Her }

Fitting in to neither faction of her family was always a sort of cause for distress. When it became apparent that she could see and manipulate the aether that permeates all elements and magic, there was excitement abound at the prospect of another Spellcaster within the family; though this quickly faded when it was found that all Sharuum could do was pull the aether from its home within the leylines and solidify it.

What good was this?

Ashamed and distressed, Sharuum left her mother's side to seek her grandmother's aid; though the true solution was found by her strange uncle Okkervil, the original "black sheep" of the family who had become known for helping the unorthodox Nightcallers find their way.

The Arcanochemist ran all manner of tests on the strange, solidified aether, eventually finding that it was incredibly sensitive to not only magic, but intention, willpower; and could be made malleable, shaped, through these means.

"You might not have ma's magic, or pops'... well, you know," Okkervil told her, pointing a claw at various equations she could barely understand, "but I think the bit of Arcane magic in you could be enough. I can't seem to manipulate it, but-- here kiddo, you try..."

That was it. By thought, willpower alone, the porcelain-like shards, harder than diamond, could be shaped into whatever she wanted. She started small, at first: small trinkets and toys, and with practice she was soon fashioning weapons for the clan. It was unbelievable but... Sharuum was happy.

But it didn't last long. A sense of dread always lingered in the back of her mind, a heavy lump in her throat. She felt trapped in the Tanglewood; too large a dragon in too small a space. It was too dark, it was oppressive. It made her anxious; it made her angry. As gentle as she had always been, she began succumbing to an odd rage -- one which comes from being constantly overwhelmed, being trapped like an animal, with no place feeling safe; all of which culminate in truly destructive meltdowns.

It was found that the aether she could manipulate responded to her stress, as well. In her fits of rage and distress, the shards would gather to her like armor, or ripple out from her in shockwaves. Now feeling as if she were not only trapped, but a danger to her family and clan, she once again felt she had to leave home.

Sharuum returned to the Starfall Isles, but couldn't bring herself to return to her mother. She could never be the artist that Cruor was; she felt she had failed. Instead, she had heard whispers of a small commune her cousin Abraxus had formed with a strange prince, and set off for the Starwood Strand; a much less dense forest, somewhere she could breathe, see the sky.

Now in a more comfortable state, Sharuum is able to feel truly free in her work, finding particular talent as a smithy, of sorts, though she is also quite fond of making trinkets and baubles to provide for the other crafters within the encampment.

Sharuum's signature Nightcall is a high pitched screech, sharp and metallic - akin to keening blades.

If I step one foot back in Lambert,
I'm one step out of the wrong;
Give back a note from the other one,
Tell them all to go home.

Generation II

I am a Nightcaller! These children derive from the sacrilegious union of Death and His Maiden, representing the impending demise of all dragonkind... or so the rumors go. Whether of the relentless and terrifying Reaper line, or the Spellcaster line overclocked at the expense of sanity, their horrible bestial cryptid-cries send shivers down the spine of even the bravest dragon.
