PyanXXXXXXXXXXXXXXDivine History Matriarch Zoyja was dumbfounded when he hatched. In the week when Nocturnes swarmed the lands, the clan knew their eggs would be scattered across the region. Zoyja had originally insisted all eggs be saved and protected, waiting for the right time to hatch. Pyan proved to be too restless to be kept in his egg, bucking and disturbing the developing dragons. The Nocturne relented and took him as her own, hatched alongside her own clutch. When she was greeted by eyes of waves, she began to question her devotion to the god of ice. Was it a sign? Was the Warden so displeased with her that he sent a child with the eyes of his melted symbol? The Ice Warden brushed her off when she questioned him. Zoyja could not blame the child- he was innocent in this matter. She raised him to be proud of this symbol, a herald of the Warden's wrath. Pyan was not as devout as his adoptive mother. He could not convince her he was blessed by the Tidelord, not cursed like she wholeheartedly believed. When Quiet hatched and Zoyja began declaring primals as divines, Pyan did not complain. In fact, he loved the attention. He reveled in scaring the young Gaoler that his eyes would melt if he tattled on Pyan's troublemaking. Zoyja was displeased by her son's antics, but her faith would not allow her to put an end to it. He was an annoyance at best- if she chastised him and he retaliated, she feared for the clan's safety. Zoyja is not particularly proud of Pyan. Although she would never admit it, part of her feared him. When Valkyn hatched and was perfectly sculpted into her role, Zoyja could once again sleep at night. The two believed Valkyn's power was ultimately superior to Pyan's, and that should a fight break out he would most definitely lose. In truth, Pyan was an excellent liar. He could never harm his mother or his clan- but he did not discourage them from believing so. |
