VALKYNXXXXXXXXXXXXXXDivine History To the foreigner who had approached her, a Pearlcatcher with the blue eyes of a water dragon, she was immense. Beautiful. Godly. She was almighty, for gold was her blood and divine was her mission. The stranger dipped his head in greeting, and she returned the gesture. She was nothing if not polite. The Pearlcatcher extended a paw. "In mine frail tongue, I speak - I wish to make the pact." A low chuckle rumbled in Valkyn's throat. He was well-mannered as she was, and his reverence was clear as day. Her eyes shone brighter, as if turning from mere lanterns to small suns. The light began to gather around the two, and she grabbed the stranger's paw with her own gargantuan set of talons, awaiting his true response. The pact. He spoke the words. Light flowed into his body. He, too, was divine, if but for a moment. In a flash of light, Valkyn was gone, and in her place stood a single dragon, overcome with nature's powers. As if drawn by his newfound strength, a storm cascaded down. Valkyn could tell not if he regretted it when the light scattered beneath what he had summoned, nor could she tell what his intent had been beyond the pact. She simply knew the power was, for a time, merely his.
(thanks @Izunia for the lore!)
Valkyn was only second to the Lightweaver herself. Although Zoyja maintained the day to day tasks, all knew of her power. Quiet was too humble, refusing to acknowledge his greatness. Pyan too cocky. He did not take his blessing seriously. Valkyn was aware of her favor, but not as extreme as the two other primals she shared the clan with. She was proud, but not to the point of fault. Zoyja groomed her to be the icon of the clan, a beaming light for all to bow to. Her parents were overjoyed with their daughter. Her sisters fled as soon as they came of age, worried Valkyn might see them as contenders to usurp her position. It mattered not. They would never have the mark of the Lightweaver. Valkyn established herself as a wishgiver, granting her power briefly to those who provided the proper offerings. Once a Pearlcatcher wished to flood the lands of enemies. Another time, a Fae wanted to win the heart of a Ridgeback. Who was she to discriminate? The Lightweaver gave her this gift to give. It was the least she could do for her goddess. |
