Orchid is Featherfang's mate and scout partner. The dedicated scouts of the Driftwood Clan are dispatched in pairs for safety reasons, and since Orchid tended to go wherefer Featherfang went anyway, she was allowed to be his official scout partner.

Orchid is the sharper-eyed of the pair. Featherfang is the more social one, and so he will usually handle the diplomatic side of the scouting missions while Orchid keeps her eyes peeled for threats or things of interest. They have their own silent code that they use to communicate with each other when discussing secret information. Well, it used to just be for secret mission info; they got so accustomed to using it that half their own conversations between each other are silent as well.

Since she and Featherfang travel so often on scouting missions, Orchid has become and excellent "campsite cook." With a simple fire and a handful of scavenged components, she can craft amazing roasted dishes. This feat sounds even more impressive when you realize she has to do all that without hands.

Whenever she finds stray shed feathers, she likes to collect a few and bring them home to her lair to make colorful mobiles which she hangs from the ceiling. She'll sometimes come home from a scouting mission with enough feathers in tow to stuff a large pillow. Any feathers she doesn't use will usually be given to the other feather collectors of the clan or traded away. Her and Featherfang's lair is wild and whimsical, covered in brilliant decorations that are usually overgrown with moss and plants from their long absences.
