Lore in regard to the Cryoborgs wrote:
Cold. Alone. Coated in metal as a long abandoned cryogenic prototype that had, over time and lack of maintenance, went horribly wrong.
Caliope was someone who was alone for a very long time, by no choice of her own. As an experiment she was abandoned, and buried under deep banks of snow she was never found by the dragons as time went on. It was the same surge of magic from the proper cryonic facility that brought her back to life, metal and stow fusing to her body and all becoming one creature.
With new strength and life surging through her, Caliope dug out of the snow to find her way in the world. Soon enough, she found the facility that she had been so forcefully ejected from when she died. Without a moment of hesitation or thought, she burst inside. What she found though was quite surprising.
The building lay in rough wear, and the dragons that were tending to each other were, though in some ways quite different, in a quite similar state to her. Metal and Ice were part of their skin and bodies, though they needed time to grow accustomed and were quite weak.
It wasn't until a crowned skydancer approached her that she was snapped out of her amazement.
"You're new here. Yet you are... like us. Who are you." His voice was calm and smooth, but held the tones of a father getting ready to spring into a lecture.
It took Caliope a moment to find her voice, with it having been such a long time since she had last used it.
"I... am Caliope. Your cryonic procedures succeeded while mine failed. We are not dissimilar... I swear."
The skydancer stared at her for a moment, trying to decide whether she was telling the truth or not. Eventually he sighed. There was no point trying to claim that she was anything but like them. After all, why else would she be a creature of ice and metal and frostbitten flesh.
"If what you say is true, you should join us here. We've been trying to patch things up, and the more hands on board the better."
