Biography

Uh-oh, looks like this edgy kid wandered a little too far from her home lair (#43699, SyntheticFaith), and now she's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her to the home lair, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. This is not necessary, but she would be very grateful!

Travel Log:

syntheticfaith #43699

Miyu has always been a handful. Ever since she hatched all the way until she made up her mind and finally made that leap of faith into the world beyond her home.

Many dragons heaved a sigh of relief upon realizing that Miyu made good on her incessant empty threats of leaving for good and never looking back. Especially the clan’s alchemist Icemist was overjoyed because her departure meant nobody messing up his experiments and getting in his way. With his peaceful days restored, work goes along efficiently.

But many were quite disappointed to see the energetic youngster go - although it was mostly the hatchlings who loved the adult who matched their energy and always got into trouble with them.

Perhaps it was the other travelers that Miyu saw taking refuge in her clan that helped steeled her resolve. Whatever it was, however, the journey awaits and there is no challenge that Miyu would ever back down from.

Miyu traveled to the Foxfire Bramble, finding herself in the Clan of the Raven Queen. After being granted entry to the territory, Miyu encountered Skylight and Magpie surrounded by attentive hatchling dragons. She took a seat near the briar arch marking the entrance to their classroom, quietly taking in the lesson and trying hard not to disrupt. Truly a challenge with excitement vibrating through her. She ended up sitting on her tail to keep from lashing it with all the enthusiasm building up in her without an outlet. Eventually, the hatchling were dismissed, and the pair came to introduce themselves to Miyu.

"Would you like to help for a while? We could use an extra set of claws with all the hatchling we have around here right now."

"I would love to! What can I do?"

Miyu passed her days telling stories to the hatchlings and accompanying them on excursions away from the nesting grounds. Much to Skylight's displeasure, she was more likely to get them in trouble than provide reasonable guidance. However, just like in her home clan, the hatchlings loved her, and neither Skylight nor Magpie could bring themselves to hold Miyu's flightiness against her.

Once all the hatchlings had moved on from their nesting grounds, Miyu decided her time in the clan had come to an end as well. Magpie sent her on her way with a kind letter and Skylight gave her a copy of a book they'd been reading to the hatchlings.

Filled with excitement for her next adventure, Miyu darted carelessly down the path headed toward the edge of the Bramble. It was only by sheer luck that she managed to stop herself in time to avoid bowling over an aberration on the path ahead of her.

"Oh gosh, I'm so sorry! I wasn't paying nearly enough attention."

"It's fine! No harm done."

"Are you another traveler? You don't look like any of the residents I've heard of." My hadn't met many, but she learned of most of the clash alongside the hatchlings.

"I am, but you've caught me as I'm leaving."

"Me too! We seem to be headed the same way. How would you feel about some company?"

The dragon hesitated for a moment, but nodded. "I guess that would be fine."

"Wonderful!" She offered the other dragon a smile. "I'm Miyu."

"ChewyBean."

Miyu and ChewyBean caught a ship together and ended up in a pleasant town on the east end of Windsweapt Plateau. It was well equipped for travelers, and due to that everything in it was just that little bit more expensive. Both of them were a little nervous, since didn't have much in the way of coin, but the inn clerk swiftly offered them to pick up some odd jobs around the town in lieu of payment.

Miyu didn't feel like going out to the fields or learning a whole new craft, so she agreed to do some cleaning at the inn. You'd think it's a simple enough task that doesn't leave much room for error, but somehow she still managed to find trouble... But, listen, she was just curious! How was she supposed to know that even staff weren't allowed in the off-limits areas?

Well, after a week or so of her shenanigans, the inn management finally had enough of her and firmly asked her to leave. Miyu didn't want to go so soon, but there wasn't much she could do. She vowed to come back sometime... When everyone at the inn forgets her face.

Soon, Miyu found herself approaching the Starfall Isles. She glided high above the coast of this arcane land, keeping an eye out for anything interesting. Sure enough, she then spotted a young Spiral dragon swimming between the waves below. They were as erratic as their kind is known to be in the air, but slower in the resistance of water. Miyu swooped downward to greet them.

"Hello!" She chirped. "Are you ok down here? Are you in the ocean on purpose?"

"Hi! Yes, I'm very much here on purpose!" He laughed, his purple eyes catching the sun rays just like the sea around him. "Are you here on purpose?"

"Well, you could say that!"

"Name's Whirli! Why don't you join me? The water's nice and refreshing after a long fly." The blue noodle was constantly contorting, rolling, and looping around even as he talked

"I'm Miyu." Slowly, she descended into the sea, careful to stay afloat. Luckily, Whirli knew that a tired dragon made a weak swimmer. He smacked the end of his tail on the water a few times, and, to Miyu's surprised delight, a young orca surfaced to be a buoy, with a reef dragon snail on its head.

Whirli chattered away all the while. "That's a friend of mine. I think she might have gotten lost from her pod. And that little guy--" he pointed at the blue snail-- "is my familiar! His name is Squirt! Ain't he the cutest? Oh, and if ya need a place to stay, my clan always has space! We call ourselves the Clan of Slumber."

"Slumber?" Miyu tilted her head as she bobbed along, resting one wing and arm on Whirli's orca friend. "I'd love a place to stay, but don't tell me you sleep all day."

Whirli took Miyu's teasing in stride, grinning with glee. "I mean, its up to you if you want to spend your entire time borrowing a hibernal den! But no, it's really just a chill place where you can do basically whatever you want! Our leader-- she's like our mum-- likes to call us a village of misfits."

Whatever you want? Misfits? Miyu beamed at the thought. "In that case, I'd love to! If you'll have me."

Whirli opened his mouth to reply, but his attention was taken by the sudden appearance of a murkbottom gull, surfacing beside the spiral with a beak full of fish and a muffled squawk. "Ooh, she's coming back!"

Miyu hardly had time to ask before she heard the crescendoing burble of the shadow below. Erupting through the waves came a school of fish, followed by a dark-scaled Undertide. She was only a juvenile, but already rivaled Miyu in size and wingspan. Miyu marveled at the glint of her razor teeth.

"Say your hello to Trench!" Whirli proclaimed as he corkscrewed around the beast, catching as many of the raining fish as he can. "She's not much of a talker, but she's as sweet as anyone you'll meet at our home! And this gull is her familiar, Atlantic."

Trench's own mouth was packed with fish. Her pet flapped up to sit atop her head, which turned to a profile as she regarded Miyu with one wary green eye like a giant curious crow.

"I'm Miyu!" The imperial smiled, trying her best to not seem rude with staring. Before then, she had only ever heard of the ancient titans of the deep. "You're... beautiful!"

The Undertide bowed her head. Bashfully, she murmured a thank you through her teeth. Upon hearing Miyu's interest in the clan, she helped the orca carry the Imperial to the Crystalspine Reaches.

Upon landfall, Whirli led Miyu to the leaders' den while Trench took their catch to the hoard. They were first greeted by Pad, a Mirror with the demeanor of a tired soldier. He beckoned into the chamber a summer spinx, upon which rode Sketch, a frail Fae with as much kindness as she had melancholy. The aforementioned "mum" of the clan, she assured Miyu that she was welcome to stay as long as she'd like.

Thus unleashed into the chaos, Miyu spent a busy few weeks bouncing between the most energetic of the clan's peculiar residents, having adventures like she had with Whirli and Trench. She delighted in how her mane sparked up as she watched Surge and Electrophorus do their experiments. She bounded along the streets, nearly bumping into other dragons, when Oeno suggested finding out who could collect the most interesting metal scrap. She loved acting out stories with Dragonfruit and her pet clouddancer to the clan's few hatchlings. She put her all into learning skirmish tactics with Hyena and Dante (Pad had to step in to referree).

After her wanderlust and endless energy was fully restored, stoked by the flames of kindred souls, Miyu was ready to face a new adventure. She gave a hearty farewell to her favorite misfits and departed with high spirits.
