An emissary from a pack of tundra native to the Earth and Plague borders, priestess Balaam was sent to the Shifting Expanse to seek the sacred bones that were stolen from their tribe by a warlock for use in his dark rituals. Using her grisly gift of visceral augury, Balaam was pointed to a clan in the cliffs near the Wiretangle Walk who had had dealings with the thief before. The priestess allied herself with The Lastsparks, and together they tracked Oculus to his foul lair. The warlock was driven out of the desert, and the magical items that he had stolen were returned to their rightful owners.

Deciding to stay with her new friends, Balaam began using her soothsaying powers to decipher the strange magical energy that she could feel emanating from the disturbed leylines that ran all through the area. Asking her clanmates about this phenomenon, the tundra was told of the mysterious elemental shift that had taken place in the region several years before, and that the aftershocks of that event could still be felt all over the world. Officials from all Flight Sanctums are investigating the cause, and the priestess offered her gifts to aid in the clan's own inquiries, headed by mage Medeis. Fascinated by the prospect of new magic to discover, Balaam continues to read the signs and listen to the secrets that Sornieth is telling her.
