Life Among His New Clan
He made his way to his new clan as an adult. He loved his parents, but he saw how othered they had become, he didn't want that. He was already quiet, already watched more than spoke. So he said his goodbyes to his parents and siblings, and left when he heard of a strange little clan that specialized in the largest instructional manual collection in existence. It was strange, but he was oh so curious.
When he arrived, he was immediately starstruck. Not by what he came for, because he hadn't even gotten that far inside yet. No, he saw the most beautiful Spiral traipsing through the sky. He couldn't look away. The way her powerful body coiled, and lengthened with each elated movement. The way her scales shimmered in the bright desert sun. He watched, unable to speak even if he wanted to.
She eventually noticed him watching with wide eyes, and an open jaw. She flew down, introduced herself. To which he cleared his throat and tried to compose himself, but was uncharacteristically unable to when she giggled at him.
Their relationship was explosive, and full of unadulterated love. Until he heard how she was meant to go to a new clan so soon after his arrival. He felt his heart drop, but they made a pact to love each other forever, to visit each other often, and spend their lives to the fullest so they'd have story after story to tell each other when they'd get the chance to meet again.

Rods and spires spliced the sun’s rays where it currently hung in midmorning, casting shadows across the numerous scrolls Lochollen had spread before him as he prepared for the day’s work. The only sound from his sheltered ledge was the rustle of parchment and the occasional grunt as the Skydancer shifted his position every now and then.
“Lochollen!” a voice called, carried on the wings of the wind from far above in the sky.
The Imperial’s whole posture perked up when he caught sight of his long-distance love as she came coiling and swooping towards him.
“Vesharia!” he shouted back with delight. Vesharia landed lightly in front of him, coiling her long neck around his a little as they nuzzled noses. “How have you been?” she asked, taking a step back to admire him in his entirety.
“Quite bored without you,” Lochollen replied, smiling, gazing into the eyes of his beloved. While he was an academic dragon of simple means, Vesharia had a contagious air of adventure about her that always made its way underneath his scales whenever she visited.
“The past few months have been quite the opposite, dear,” Vesharia said with a small laugh.
“Oh? Do tell.” Lochollen cleared away a pile of scrolls, patting the space beside him for Vesharia to recline beside him. She did so gracefully, coiling her long spine as she settled down, her scales brushing against his.
Lochollen half heard the words Vesharia spoke as she recounted her adventures, his eyes lost in her vivacious icy eyes.
The day soon began to fade, but Lochollen’s passion for his darling love only seemed to swell as the hours seemed to rush by them.
With a sigh, Vesharia stood up, glancing at the position of the sun, which was now just beginning to touch the horizon.
“I’d best get going,” she said, voice laden with sadness. Lochollen nodded understandingly, standing up. Vesharia coiled around his neck one last time, squeezing ever so slightly with affection.
“I’ll miss you,” Lochollen whispered.
“So will I,” Vehsaria whispered back. With one last prolonged glance, Vesharia leapt into the sky, her body slithering through the air, scales glinting in the waning sunlight as she ascended higher into the night.
