Hailing from the Southern Icefield, Merci is a bit of an enigma. He is withdrawn, reserved, and antisocial, deigning to interact with few outside of the Blacklight Evolved he created. His experiments and research are guarded jealously and viciously, and upon being questioned about his work, he will turn an unsettling blank silver gaze on the asker, and tell little of any consequence. His history is a mystery. His motives known only to himself. He is as icy as the land of his birth, coldly calculating and emotionless, far removed from the sunny, warm disposition of the rest of his kind.

It was Merci who created the Blacklight Plague, it was Merci who set into motion events that would have far reaching consequences that no land in Sornieth would escape unscathed. From the Viridian Labyrith, to the Southern Icefield, and every place in between, his plague-- his children-- spread.

He saw his work... and he found it good.

Merci is a mysterious dragon with a cold demeanor who originates from the Fortress of Ends. He doesn't talk about his past, but there have been hints that something terrible befell him in his homeland. He's reserved, and keeps to himself, preferring the company of Zeus and other Blacklight dragons over most. He seems particularly close with Zeus, though they go through phases of avoiding one another for reasons known only to them.

His work on Blacklight may be pretty much complete, but there are always new things for him to do, always new strains to study in the Scarred Wasteland, and new mysteries to unravel in the dance of life vs death, survival vs extinction that goes on at all times in the land of the Plaguebringer...

January 15th, XX19: Meat

On a morning walk to clear his head (or look for a fight, more likely), Zeus happened across a small and rather unfortunate Ridgeback hatchling. He named the little fellow Meat, because of his condition, and brought him home to the Pyrrhian lair. Merci took interest in the young hatchling, because he knew that the skin was the single greatest barrier between a living organism and infection. How meat had survived this long and not taken ill was a mystery, and Merci sought to study it, deigning to collaborate with Amaryssa to come up with a way to give the Ridgeback some protection.

January 18th, XX19: Betrayal

A dragon from another clan who came to them seeking to be trained, instead turned out to be an assassin in disguise. Her target? Merci, the creator of the Blacklight plague. The attempt was foiled when Athereon and Achilleas rose to his defense, viciously. It wasn't the end either, because it was this would be assassin's misfortune that Persephone came home just then as well. She leapt into the fray, heedless of being outmassed by the combatants, and attacked the threat as viciously as she would any other. Three on one, and the Imperial was put down.

They turned their baleful attention next on the dragon that had come with her from the same clan, but Aslaug stepped in and put a stop to it. She decreed instead that the other be banished from the lair, and that Cannibal, escorted by two others to ensure he returned home safely, was to take the one who'd perished back to her home clan in a box.

What was left of her, anyway.
