The clan of Benbow Bayou is made up of inquisitive minds and spiritual stewards. Each member seeks a deep understanding of the bounty of life that calls Sornieth home. Ecologists, botanists, zoologists, druids; each came to the clan to study and preserve the natural world. Some members are so close to wildlife that they mimic their behaviors.

They may be considered a bit overzealous by others–disputes with both dragon and beastclans over unsustainable hunting and abuse of resources have turned bloody in the past.

Benbow Bayou is a swamp bordering the Mire and the Gladeveins. Boardwalks criss-cross between the thick ancient cypress trees, some of which spiral up into wooden treehouses. Other dragons live in the shelter of a cavern. The bog still creeps in to flood the floor of the cave, but the clan has carved a network of dry, safe passages and rooms into the walls. The rooms include libraries, laboratories, kitchens, personal rooms, and the hatchery.

While some members live here in the swamp, many others are almost constantly away on research expeditions to the farthest reaches of Sornieth. After all, the Gladekeeper’s realm does not contain the entire breadth of life on the planet. There is always someone trekking after hoarfrost maulers in the Snowsquall Tundra or tracking the migration patterns of birds to the Zephyr Steppe. Others take trips to study academically at universities in the Hewn City. Yet others live off the coast of the Veridian Labyrinth in the Kelp Beds, where they study the coral reefs that team with life.
