Myron's Akropolis stands tall above the city of Kinyras. It's a large plateau, much like the Akropolis of Athens, that houses the largest temple in the city; one that is dedicated to Sornieth's Pantheon. Around it, are several other small temples, a bathhouse, a theatre, an incredible courtyard garden, and it's very own marketplace dedicated to the finest goods. |
The architecture of the structures atop the plateau are notably Corinthian; with tall columns crowned with fanciful leaves and intricate carvings. Each wall is painted colorfully, most of which depict heroic soldiers, vibrant gardens, and many exotic animals. The entire place is lush with verdant plants; potted flowers, fruit trees, and palms precede every entrance and stairwell, and green ivy cascades down every wall. The light scent of fragrant flowers and incense fills the air... |
STRUCTURE As aforementioned, the largest of all the buildings, at the middle of the Akropolis, sits the Sorniethic Pantheon; a temple dedicated to the Eleven greater deities. On one end is the entrance, and in between each structural column is an area dedicated to each of the Eleven; with a marble statue and an offering pedestal, all decorated with symbolic plants and animals. From the temple, below and to the right, there's a beautiful bathhouse, seemingly overflowing with tropical plants. On the interior, intricate mosaics make up much of the floors and walls, illustrating colorful schools of fish, squids, and sea serpents snaking through underwater temples. There are four large pools on each side, with a platform in the middle with seating and trays of fine fruits and wine. A lush sea of palms, figs, plantains, and philodendrons line the pools, reaching towards the sunlight coming in through the windows. WIP |

DISTRICTS Kinyras itself is compromised of several different districts; The area surrounding the Akropolis is aptly named Anabainō or "The Ascent", as much of the area surrounding the base of the plateau are stairways and multi-level homes. The Emporion is the harbor district. It features many docks for ships to load and unload goods, a sheltered area to do so in any weather condition, and a boatwright facility where ships are built and repaired. On both sides of this area, there are tall, rocky cliffs with beach below it, where ships and boats may be beached. Just between the harbor and the Akropolis is the Agora, or public marketplace, where goods are sold by the local population, plus a few travelling merchants. Most sell here, but save the finest of their selection for the Akropolis marketplace. On the opposite side, the city fades into fertile farmland. Fields as far as the eye can see glow golden with grain, and the terraced hills accommodate thriving orchards. Many different types of foods are grown here; wheat, barley, olives, figs, grapes, and various citruses. Alongside these crops, livestock make up for a majority of the population just outside of the city walls. In a triangular shape around the perimeter of the city are three barracks, positioned where they may watch over both the city and it's outskirts; one near the harbor, one near the fields, and one near the forest just north of the second. While most livestock is kept outside of the city walls, many of the horses are kept in stables near the barracks as well. And everywhere in between, the homes of the people sprout up between every building. Some, simple and modest, and others, grand; with multiple stories and ivy-covered pergolas, complete with colorfully painted walls and shimmering pools. In Kinyras, to have a home is not a matter of wealth, but a matter of preference. |
