Frostbite Hummingbird

Frostbite hummingbirds are the messengers of the Icewarden. These tiny beings are minor ice spirits and not living, breathing birds at all.

Her parents are both Icewarden Disciple Guards, taking care of the the innermost sanctums and guarded areas (treasure caves/hatchery) of the clan that runs the Wandering Snows Hatchery (mewhaku, #3777). Their clan regularly sends out hatchlings to other clans in honor of the Icewarden.

In celebration of the 2015 Crystalline Gala, WinterRose joined Clan Diamond Dust. Despite her family background, she didn't wish to become a guard (Selene put the guards through intense training), and it took her a couple of months to settle into a role in the clan. She was always bouncing around the lair, visiting people, with an incredible amount of energy for a tundra - to the point that the clan leaders wondered what they were going to do with her. Eventually they realized they could make good use of her energy and friendliness - everyone in the clan liked and trusted her so the clan leaders decided she would make an excellent page. (Page = one who is employed to run errands, carry messages, or act as a guide.)

The clan hadn't previously need a messenger, but as the lair increased size and the number of residents grew, it became necessary to have some designated to deliver messages and packages. With her strong olfactory sense and winter coat designed to keep her warm in the cold of the icefields, WinterRose made an excellent tracker (as it was sometimes necessary for her to search for clan mates outside the lair to make her delivery). She eagerly took to her new job and could often been seen happily wandering through clan territory, delivering messages to fellow clan mates. The clan leaders also presented her with a Frostbite Hummingbird to help deliver messages to other clans in the Icefields.

As of the 2020 Sornieth Winter Games, WinterRose runs the logistics for the Opening Ceremony, serving in a role as the opening schedule coordinator. After missing/not quite late announcers the first two years, the Tundra keeps a close eye on them prior to the ceremony to make sure everything runs according to schedule.

...Landing with a large boom! and spreading pink glitter everywhere. There's even some little paper stars along with them. All pink and light purple of course. The ground starts to rumble like an earthquake as the meteor cracks open like a newborn out of an egg. From it comes a fairly large guardian, who gives a smile at you. [Nora, #4930845]

"Greetings from the Starfall Isles!" She says as she cracks the meteor open more so that she could exit it. She quickly shoves you towards it. "I have brought gifts! Please enjoy all of the goodies!" She throws down some glitter onto your head before hopping into the air and made some loops in the air. "Have a good Crystalline Gala!"
