Biography

Primary Coliseum Team
Charge: His Clan

Changed from Pearlcatcher to Guardian - 11/29/14

Featured Random Dragon on Feb 17, 2015 :-)

Companion = Wetland Unicorn

ShimmerWing was one of the first dragons to join Clan Diamond Dust. He came from a neighboring Ice tribe as a gesture of goodwill to help the new clan become strong (originating in clan Mainn, #68923). While Ice clans may seem a little frosty to other flights, to survive in the unforgiving frozen landscape, the neighboring clans are surprisingly warm and regularly help each other out.

Chosen to join the main coliseum team, ShimmerWing is one of the primary fighters for the clan. However, he often sits out of battles while trainees are being leveled, content to watch for other signs of nearby danger. While initially responsible for all types of coliseum battles - both grinding and exalting - the goal for the clan is to have other fighters to train volunteers for exalting and have him be on the team responsible for grinding.

ShimmerWing was born a Pearlcatcher, but didn't share the haughty ways of the breed nor was he a coward in the coliseum. He petitioned the clan leaders for a Guardian breed change scroll, as he identified with the protective nature of the species. Given his history of supporting the clan and braving the coliseum, the clan leaders agreed. He retained a bit of his independent nature but now feels "right" as a Guardian. There's no need for him to leave on The Search to find a charge, however, as he already sees Clan Diamond Dust as his responsibility.

He bred once, when he was a Pearlcatcher in the early days of the clan, but it wasn't a permanent mating. Three of his offspring expressed interest in being trained and exalted to increase the prestige of the clan. The fourth, however, requested to become a fighter, like his father, although he may eventually follow his siblings. ShimmerWing has no plans to breed further, as battling for his clan is currently his priority.

2015 Wavecrest Saturnalia Water Inc.
http://www1.flightrising.com/forums/forga/1416909/1

During the 2015 Wavecrest Saturnalia, ShimmerWing decided to join the Guardian group at Water Inc. and interact with a gorgeous Water dragon, Rae. As one of the helpers, he didn't have much to do - mostly protected a rock and made sure it was guarded. When asked why he joined Water Inc., ShimmerWing nodded and said "Yes, money is nice and Rae, well, look at her... Who wouldn't want her in their clan? But, ultimately I'm here to support Water Flight during their festival."

The organizers of the group also spent some time questioning their helpers, asking, " If you found out that hunting in the Kelp Beds took away food from Water Flight, what would you do?"

ShimmerWing frowned. "Well, yes, of course it does. But, it's not like ALL Water dragons only eat seafood and food from the Kelp Beds. That's why other territories are open to Water Flight to hunt and gather there. Besides, it would be so boring to only eat food available in your own territory."

He raised an eyebrow. "But the question was what would I do... Well, I suppose I would petition my clan to form some trade alliances and open territory to Water clans allied to us. We do have seafood in the Icefields, as well as plants and meat and insects, and could share during the festival, considering the extra burden on Water clans right now."

As it turns out, there was murder, mystery, and intrigue. When it all came down to the end, ShimmerWing found he had tied with a Nature clan to earn the most relationship points with Rae and Rae chose to go to the Nature clan (Eme). As payment for his services, he left with some seafood for the clan, as well as some chests containing treasure and gems.
