Primary Coliseum Team - Team Leader
Captain of the Guards

Joined Clan Diamond Dust 10/19/14

Companion = Flora Cerdae tumblr_p575ucab9X1wvvm88o1_100.png

Selene was born in an Arcane clan, but was sent to an Ice flight shortly after birth. Although she liked the cool surroundings, the clan didn't have a permanent spot for her. A neighboring Ice clan (Lucatri #45372), however, had need of a coliseum team to help the tribe prosper. She volunteered to be traded in exchange for three of the progens' hatchlings, which would be trained by her former tribe.

When she joined Clan Diamond Dust, it was only a small, struggling band of dragons in the Frigid Floes region of The Southern Icefield. She joined with an Ice dragon and a Light dragon, who came from neighboring tribes, to form a team that would be the primary fighters for the clan. While initially responsible for all types of coliseum battles - both grinding and exalting - the goal for the clan is to have other fighters to train volunteers for exalting and have Selene lead the team responsible for grinding. The lessons her team has learned in battle are invaluable to the clan, and she has earned a position of respect in Clan Diamond Dust.

She is extremely dedicated to helping the clan survive and prosper. Devoted to her job, she rarely takes time off and enjoys battling in the coliseum. However, the clan leaders are particularly sensitive to potential burnout and have taken to ordering her to go to other flights' festivals.

In March of 2015, due to the clan's growing size and position, the clan leaders bestowed the title of Captain of the Guards on Selene and gave her additional responsibility for the safety of the clan and the clan's lair since her coliseum duties had lightened. Selene started a rigorous training program to ensure high leveled dragons rotated guarding the clan.

During an early exploration in newly discovered Blooming Grove territory, the team found a flora cerdae willing to travel back to the clan with them. After an evaluation by Willow, who pronounced the cerdae fit and disease-free, the lovely unicorn followed Selene back to her den. Selene tried to return the cerdae to Willow, but the stubborn unicorn refused to leave her new quarters. Willow laughed at Selene's predicament and said that she'd mark her down as having a companion now, removing her from the familar fostering list that all clan members were required to participate in if they didn't have a permanent companion.

Rockbreaker's Ceremony 2014: Festival Grounds

Selene took a look around the festival fairgrounds - she had been too busy in the coliseum during the Riot of Rot so this was her first chance to enjoy a festival. If only she hadn't been tasked with taking the newest hatchling in the clan...

The young dragon (Gwynn) beside her ran impatiently ahead. "Ooooh, what's this??"

Selene sighed to herself - this was going to be a long day. She easily caught up to the little tundra and read the sign on the booth, "Singmolii's Rockbreak: Find out what the earth holds for you."

"Can we? Can we?" asked the excited hatchling.

"Excuse me, sir," said Selene. "Would it be alright if my young companion took a turn?"

Despite here earlier misgivings, Selene smiled at the enthusiasm of the hatchling who excitedly pounced at the rock and...... [Roll: 42]

A couple of plushes fluffed out of the stone once the little tundra wrestled with it enough. Sing nodded to them both with a smile.

Their next stop was at the Bobbing for Gems booth. Selene nudged the hatchling forward.

"Go on, give this one a try! It looks fun!"

The tiny tundra took a step forward and dunked her head in the water. After what seemed like an impossibly long time, she finally emerged, shook her head (splashing water all over the Imperial's front legs), and..... [Roll: 65]

Selene couldn't help but get caught up in the little one's enthusiasm. What a great festival!

2015 Trickmurk Parade

Selene sighed. She wasn't sure how she got stuck on hatchling duty two festivals in a row. The clan leaders had been spending more time in the coliseum, which gave her some free time, but that didn't mean that she wanted to be a babysitter. Still, they put her in charge of protecting the young clan members so she'd make sure they'd stay safe in the large crowd attending the parade. (The clan leaders also mentioned something about loosening up and having some fun, not like she needed THAT advice. Besides, she was on duty and had to keep her guard up.)

"Come along - let's find a spot," she called out to the hatchlings trailing her. One of them, Psyche, a young Skydancer, pushed her way in front of the crowd. As the clan settled in to watch the parade, Selene become as enthralled with the floats as the young ones beside her. The hatchlings couldn't contain their excitement, bouncing excitedly and staring in wonder at the performers, floats, even the favors being tossed to the crowd.

beckyh2112's RP response:

This float wheels along under its own power, its path drunkenly wandering. It doesn't stick to the same route the other floats use, nor does it indulge in the artful swoops some of the flying floats used. It even spooks one of the guardians keeping the parade route clear as it almost runs over his tail.

Stone columns in the style of the temple surrounding the Forum of the Obscured Crescent decorate the float. The upper parts of most are broken off; two have crashed to the 'ground'. Like, the columns, the rest of the float looks time-worn and broken. There are cracks in the spokes of its wheels. Chips come off the standing columns. Broken-open casks spill favors onto the floor of the float, some of which fall off every now and then. The central dais where the eerie wildclaw stands sways dangerously as the float moves, the creaking sound audible over the crowd.

You're almost sure it's going to collapse before the end of the parade, until you realize this has to be part of the show. After that, it's almost fun to try to figure out how it's done. Maybe, with the right equipment...? Or maybe it's magic? Or both?

A whirl of colorful nocturnes touch down suddenly, making the whole float wobble and groan. They quickly snatch up favors, then dart up and over the crowd, tossing them out indiscriminately. Mania just grins, until he suddenly joins them in flight. The scream of metal and groan of cracking wood as he takes off is more than a little terrifying. Even knowing it's supposed to do that, there's still a nagging doubt...

A bit of silk floats down from above to settle on the pale imperial. One of the dancers seems to have lost part of their costume, not that they've noticed. Or maybe they dropped it on purpose.

Otherworldly Collar Seeker Orb Mammertee Plushie Bright Bolt Fossilize Blazing Slash Leaf Bolt Celadon Arm Silks

The hatchlings quickly scooped up the favors with Psyche claiming the Celadon Arm Silks. Selene reluctantly admitted to herself that perhaps her clan leaders were right in making her take these breaks.

Crystalline Gala - Winter Carnival 2018: Lore Writing

Gwynn poked her head in Selene's lair. "Selene? Ready for the carnival?"

Selene looked at her. The look - the one that belonged on a Lightning dragon and said "we should be working right now" (despite the fact that the Imp wasn't a Lightning dragon and they weren't a Lightning clan). "Now? No, I have to work on the security. I don't have time to travel to a carnival."

That wasn't enough to deter Gwynn. "Selene! The carnival is literally right outside your door. We're even hosting some of the events, as you well know since you and your guards have been working nonstop."

She moved closer and nudged the large Imperial. "Come on, it'll be fun. Remember when I was a hatchling and you took me to the Rockbreaker's Ceremony? We had a great time! And this is our own Winter Carnival - let's just go outside, grab a snack, and wander around the game stalls."

The Imperial perked up. "Patrol? That's a great idea!"

Gwynn sighed. "I didn't want to have to do this, but... our clan leaders ordered me to get you to take a break. Let's go and see the dragons on the Luge course. That's always a fun event to attend! I'll even get you a cup of hot cocoa."

Grumbling, Selene followed Gwynn out; although the Imperial didn't share Gwynn's enthusiam for winter carnivals, she always enjoyed herself once she actually got there.
