Biography
• B.U.G. •
biomechanic utility gearworks
For long moments the Guardian sat in the cave entrance, tilting his head one way and then the other as a constant racket of clattering tools and twisting cogs echoed off the walls. Autelharm had been holed up in her workshop for days, only insisting she was in the midst of genius inspiration and giving vague instructions to her leadership consorts with a dismissive wave of her paw. Now though, the Guardian wasn't here for instruction-- Loki just wanted to know what his friend was so focused on.
Folding in his wings to make himself smaller, Loki crept into the cave, listening as the bulbs strung along the walls buzzed with electricity. They lit the cave in all colors and led to the wide open space deeper in the cave where Autelharm tinkered and stored all her "works in progress," as she called them. The Guardian could hear her humming some little tune as she usually did when working, and as Loki reached the inner sanctum Autelharm sat back on her haunches with her wings spread out. She gazed up at a large robotic creature, taller than Autelharm herself, and reached up to press a panel in the center of the creature's chest.
A familiar lightning-blue glow brightened like three eyes on the creature's head, and it unfurled countless mechanical limbs and a pair of wings made of shimmering featherlike plates. A crest of similar plates rose on its head and seemed to glitter as the creature stretched up its neck and shook its head before blinking down at Autelharm, then up at Loki, who could only watch in surprise and more than a little awe. He'd seen his friend build many amazing things in their time, but it was nothing compared to this.
Autelharm followed her creation's gaze, her eyes bright and a huge grin on her face as she saw Loki. "My greatest invention!" She chirped, trotting towards the Guardian. "This is B.U.G.! Biomechanic Utility Gearworks, but Bug is cuter."
"Amazing." Loki couldn't help but smile back at his friend, her high energy lifting the whole room. "No wonder you've been so busy."
The creature-- Bug-- tested its many feet, taking careful steps towards the dragons. Its eyes brightened as it steadied and quickly learned. Poking a golden forked tongue out between metal teeth, Bug made a clattering rumble in its throat and butted Autelharm's shoulder with its head.
Loki laughed. "It's like a tech puppy."
Autelharm scratched Bug just under its head crest, eliciting another rumble. "Good, Bug! Your learning program works!" She beamed at Loki again. "C'mon. It's time for the clan to meet the new addition!"
