Chronicle is quieter than most, but when he does speak everyone goes silent to listen. He hides his face under a scruffy second-hand hood, and makes it his business to be at Valyn's side, whispering hushed plans and news into her ear.
Valyn is highly revered by Chronicle, he is deeply loyal to her and owes her his life. Chronicle was caught in a skirmish at Bamboo Falls when he was young and naive. As the son of a clan leader, he was supposed to have trained for battle. Instead, he had skipped all his fighting lessons to wander off and daydream. On this particular day he had wandered too far and was attacked. Valyn happened to pass by, accompanied by two other dragons trained in combat. It was Valyn who dived straight in to protect Chronicle, while her friends dealt with the surrounding foes. Chronicle has never forgotten that day, and since then has trained hard under Valyn's guidance.
While Chronicle would never admit to feeling anything more than respect towards Valyn, it is clear he is harbouring deeper feelings. His first mate was late to notice - or perhaps she was just in denial. She didn't leave him until their hatchlings were all grown up, and then she abruptly left the clan, hurt. It had become apparent that Chronicle valued his leader more than his mate. Since then Chronicle has vowed not to become close to anyone again, in fear of unintentionally hurting them.
